I have a problem with searching here (and at a lot of other sites too). Perhaps I don't know how to do it correctly.

Every time, I click on search I have to enter all the information: what forum, and/or, and number of weeks back to search. Worse yet, when I get a list of hits on my search and click on one of them to read the notes, I can't get back to the list of search results again. Instead I have to go back to the forum, click on search, enter all the search criteria again.

I appreciate having a search function but it wish it were a little easier to use. I also wish it would default to searching all posts. On a board such as this where people are looking for game help, the users are most likely to want to see all posts available. The default of one week is useless. It would also be nice if the board "remembered" my last search and plugged in those values when I returned to do another one.

You can use the back button of internet explorer.

Alternately, you can shift-click on the search results page to open a link in a new window.
Sometimes when I back up to the original search page to refine the terms it remembers the original options, much of the time it does not.

Well, searching while having "1 week" as search radius is a bit small, isn't it ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Try opening the links in a new window (in IE6, right-click the link). This lets you retain the search list.
