I stored some stuff in a barrel I moved right by Keith and then started to explore the first dungeon level (something I said I wasn't going to do) and found a barrel down on the dungeon level that had all the exact same stuff I stored in the barrel by Keith. I took it all back and upon finding Keith found the barrel there EMPTY! I think I will store the stuff by Annabelle and leave Keith alone and hope this stuff doesn't disappear on me! Maybe it would still be there if I had left it alone in the barrel down in the dungeon.

I'm beginning to think there are some serious bug and balance oversights in the game. That will be to bad as this CRPG has some of the most interesting game quests (not BF quests) and dialog I can recall. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

It's the tunneling barrel bug - typical for the Divinity engine and even existed in Div already. and it's not tied to Annabelle or Keith, though I hope, you're more lucky now.

That's why I sell my stuff or only throw unnecessary items on the grounds, ones I won't miss, if a new patch decides to change them - as was done in 1.43?

Aha! I sell everything too but kept a few things from Act I: a couple two-handed weapons I wasn't ready for, a set of six chemist knives, and five keys left over from the Citadel. Are the chemist knives of any use with the chemist skills? And the keys are probably worthless too?

Yep - chemist knives and keys are futile. I would throw out every key you take over from the recent act. It only confuses me, as I can't keep track which keys I now have to find or not. Adn the same goes for quest items I have left over due to act change => out. I hate a cluttered inventory.

My waste disposal for this is either the 1st room in act change or the BF - mostly BF. the first thing I do then is: sell all old stuff (set/unique items) - drop stuff I don't need anymore and start to explore the new act.

chuck, i leave all my extra stuff in barrels next to the merchants.
this is not only great for storage, but quite nice when changing acts as i just pick up the 2 barrels and take them with until i find another suitable resting area. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
i've also had the barrel (or duplicate) show up in a BF dungeon.
it doesn'tseem to make any difference to your items though (at least in my experience) as they'll ALSO be in the same barrel you have up top.
interestingly, when i've had this happen, it's actually worked out quite nice as i could deposit all the collected stuff from the dungeon in the dupe barrel and then just continue along with the exploring. when i get back to the merchants, the (new) stuff was there in the barrel. pretty sweet actually!
my guess is that there is a code number for those barrels, and when the number of the barrel you're using up top cycles through, it gets used in the dungeons - complete with whatever you've put into it.

I've also experienced this barrel bug. The 1st time it happened to me, I left the barrel in the dungeon alone, teleported to the merchants area, verified that my items were all still there in the barrel, and they were. Now I just ignore this bug when it occurs. Hmmm...I never thought of adding items to the dungeon barrel to save trips to the merchants. That would be quite handy for when you don't have the teleporter stones yet or for when you lose them later.
