Is there a list somewhere of all of the basic weapon/armor types and their requirements? I could really use this information to help me decide which stats I want to raise and which crystals I want to use.
If such a list doesn't exist anywhere, maybe someone could help me out, Right now(beginning of Act 3) I am using Shadow Armor, Shadow Shield, and a Flail. What is the best armor type? What is the best single handed crushing weapon type?
If my strength requirements won't get any higher than around 40 I'd rather start concentrating on my other abilities.
I am really enjoying the game so far, but the general lack of documentation is really pretty unforgiveable.(but then again I am spoiled by Bioware's games) If the release date, or printing costs were a concern Larian could at least have made something available for download after the release.

Agree on the issue of documentation
I'm also at the start of ACT 3 - I have leather armor, with 3 charms in it - works prettty well for me.

Most armors and stats are very random, you could find a leather armor type thats better than a plate armor for example, monsters loot better armors more often than npc's sell :P (Mages mostly)

My friend wants to play the Wizard role in BD badly but at least starting out has quit the game because it doesn't seem very viable/effective compared to melee. And melee is all everyone talks about here as near as I can tell.
The question is then whether starting out or at some point in the game people have successfully developed a Wizard skilled character or characters to play the whole game with or not??
Thank you.

Wizard takes longer to play, you have to wait for mana, rest loads, use much potions but you deal loads more dmg, I have beat the game with a wizard and if you have tons of mana potions and restoration potions you kill all pretty much in a shot or 2 wizard gets easy at a higher lvl lets say around 15~

I agree, a wizzard is quite good especially with a fighter DK to back you up. Just make sure you have your DK block for you, and if something gets past him, use a summoning doll to block the enemy. Once you build your spells up, you are quite powerful.

I was referring to the basic types (non-magical/stat-boosting), I believe the magical stuff is pretty random, but the basic types are a starting point for all of the magical stuff. Since there is no apparent list, could any melee fighter type characters let me know what armor they finished with the number of armor points provided, and the stat requirements. Same for weapons. At my point in stage 3 the best normal stuff I have seen is the Raanar armor, which is only 1 point higher than my Shadow armor. I have not seen a single piece of magical Raanar anything yet though. My experience has been that monsters drop good weapons, but my last 3 suits of armor were bought and nothing dropped comes close. Thanks in advance.

Same for weapons Well, here is my final equipment (1H hero with shield, 2H DK). I never used charms though, since I kept saving them for "better" equipment. I didn't especially go to the BF to look for good equipment (just what I found and what I saw at merchants when selling all those heavy shields I kept finding) but... Generally, if you want better equipment, put on all the +luck items you have, and go to the battlefields to buy stuff. Rinse and repeat.

Well, I see that many weapons are under one ''family''.
For example, I once found an ''Axe of the Magus'', and the other time a ''Amazon's spear of the Magus''. There are also ''xxx of the Imp'' weapons, and so on.
I'm playing a DK with two-handed sword ( warrior ) and my hero wields a spear ( most of the time ) and a shield ( survivor, with regular size so that the muscle don't get in the way )
And I have the impression that you have more chances to get piercing weapons if you are specialised in piercing weapons... that's just an impression.
I also tested a hero with 1H sword with shield and DK with 2H sword... and most of the time I looted 1H axes and swords and 2H swords
Might just be an impression I'm getting. But it might as well be possible that the specialisation influences the drops... not sure though... I mean... I can't really prove it... maybe it's just luck.

To my opnion 1h weapons are quite useless though, I made 2 warriors from the start havent used a 1h throughout the whole game, 1h is good for mages to block attacks with shield if they get passed the DK that is Another thing is, your speed... as I made an archer of my last warrior and now I think its ment to run away and shoot at your oponent. This worked quite well in DD but in BD it just seems all monsters are as fast as I am exept for the spiders in act 2 and maybe 3 creatures more, but I cant exactly out run a blood knight, stop to shoot and run away again So its more or less useless to use a bow/x-bow and just keep to a melee weapon that often deals more damage too. //Inel.

Desdemona, I was looking at your pictures and i was about to ask if you hgad a better shield lol, then the next picture was better and i was saying to myself, "thats more like it" I myself have a Orange shield with alot better stats than the 15 block yellow/green one ya have posted. But is inferior to the ranaar shield you have.

The thing about bows/x-bows is that you will need to use the sneak skill, and preferably +sight equipment. That way you can shoot the enemies before they see you. It is (imho) not the intention that they see you at all. Just before they can see you, stop shooting, retreat. They won't know where you are and turn back or stay were they are. Shoot them again and so on. I'm going two archers now (almost finished) and never had any problem. Most of the time a monster is dead before it can reach me...

des, nice onehander in the pic! that's exactly the reason i say singlehand with shield is better than 2hand (for me). now if you'd just had a 4 charm slot shield to really illustrate it! great shots des, thanks for posting.

oh, and des, did you put any points in point blank? even a few and you'll be mowing the enemies down, even if they're right on top of you.

Well yes, but then I have to scroll off screen all the time and shoot them it takes more time and I cant see what happends at my own char then.

That's exactly the reason I say singlehand with shield is better than 2hand (for me). Well, I spent some money and reskilled both the hero, Chuck, and the DK. Chuck is now single-handed with shield and the DK is two-handed. Both made stat improvements. Now to test 'em out.

Take your time specialising your characters Chuck. Myself I'm level 12 and I only have one point in damage for piercing-with-shield and two-handed. I still have 11 points left and I'm doing fine. Problem is, you can't seem to decide where to put your points afterwards . Oh well
