Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Act IV - Shield slot disabled

After advancing to Act IV I noticed my shield slot was disabled. I'm using the same one-handed sword I used in Act III. I thought maybe I had removed a ring or something and my stats had lowered making me unable to use the shield but my stats are plenty high.

Has anyone else had this problem or is this by design. I guess I can sell my one-handed with weapon skills and go to a two-handed sword but I'd rather have a choice in the matter.

Did you try un-equipping the sword and re-equipping? How about equipping another one handed weapon?

I have had it before when it said "Strenght 46 needed" while I had 110 and couldnt wear it "Letters in red" after I put the items in my inventory I could just equip it though.

I have this loads when buying stuff from Merchants "Loads of letters in red" (stats not high enough)

After buying I can just equip the item, seems like this is a bug

Raze, I can't use the shield with other 1-handed swords either. I even took everything off, helmuts, gloves, etc... and still couldn't equip the shield. I think I'll just sell my skill points and get 2-handed weapon skill because I don't want to go back to an act 3 save.

Have you tried removing and re-equipping the shield (or a different one)? Maybe try repairing it.

It's not the shield that's the problem, it's the inventory slot itself. The slot remains grayed out even when I don't have a shield equipped.

However - Good news!

I once again removed all of my equipment and placed in my inventory. I had tried this before but I must have missed a ring or something. Once I was completely naked <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> my shield slot was no longer grayed out and I could equip my shield again.

I'm using v1.44, so possibly that bug was fixed in 1.45. I don't want to patch though, because I like all the money I get from arrows. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
