I love paying a little money for I game I can't back up! It makes me learn to make sure not to screw stuff up in life.

This game is so much better than Sacred (which sucks!) and the graphics are so good this is my favorite clone yet! ( And thats saying something)

Keep using this kick-[nocando] technology!

It said I only had 1 mistake

Um.. no. I have RTS games that are several (5+) years old with better 3d models. The 3d stuff in this game looks like it was done by a total noob. There's like 50 polys for the main character!

The 2d backgrounds are nice looking tho. They should have stuck with all 2d.

No need to bash Sacred to make your point.

The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

I take it we have a new 3d artist in the forums?

Not really, I've done a few models for dungeon seige and total annihilation, wouldn't really call myself a 3d artist tho. But I could seriously do better then what's in this game...

Okay, go ahead. I made lots of those models. The heroes have more then 2000-3000 Polygons because of their complexity (weapons, armors and so on). But before you try you might want to check out THIS PAGE because thats the level of quality you must reach then. I did those too and i didn't go back in quality for , not at all.

one of the things you will learn (quickly it seems!), love, and respect is that the game creators actually care enough to read a lot of this stuff.
exaggerations seldom accomplish their desired objective.
so, careful what you wish for, you may just get it.....
you've shown intellect and thought in most of your posts - don't go silly on us now.

M - god, that stuff is beautiful!

Ok, you're going to say with a straight face that this is the same quality as those models from Spellforce? Sorry, I don't mean to offend you, but this is terrible, there's clipping issues with the hair (hard to see in that shot but her head goes thru her hair), it looks blocky (50 polys was an exaggeration, but it does look blocky) and it's deformed (look at the legs and feet). Secondly, SpellForce is an RTS (with RPG elements, great game), the models for that game are simple because you often have hundreds of units onscreen at once. Even so, I'd love if the current stuff was removed from BD and replaced with the stuff from spellforce. The hero models from that game are much better.

@lego:
Ya I know they sometimes read it. I always hope to get at least some response from them.

Flaming is so fun! Especially when it comes when StarForce 3.33 built in! I mean, wow, talk about overwhealming!

Future? No thanks, tell me now.

Sure flaming is fun, but it's against the rules.

I don't want to offend you.
I bought Dungeon Siege last year because several persons told me that it was a good game and that the graphics were good.
Before playing i choosed a female character and then i tried to play.
I played the game a very short time because i hate my character, she had the face of a women but the body of a man. And she moved as a man.
I did not like the face too.
The end of the story is that i never played this game because i don't like the graphics.

Now i realise that for a lot of people good graphics means 3D graphics.
And if there are 2D graphics in a game the people say : the graphics are updated or they are awful !

The graphics of Beyond Divinity are beautiful, i like Marian's characters but i also like the imp village with the mushroom houses and the wonderful colors of the vegetation.

At the end i will add that i did not say that the graphics of DS are bad, i just said that i did not like them.

First, mate, I don't see what's wrong with those models.
Second point: Spellforce has closer zoom.
Third point: Spellforce ran like a slideshow on my computer whereas I only occasionaly encounter slowdowns in BD (I am running a comp below the sys requirements). It means that Spellfoce has a higher polycount.
You should know that the models in BD were not made low-poly because the artist could not create anything better but because it was aimed for lower requirements.
Do you know what's real 3d Art? It's lowpoly. Go to a site such as www.cgtalk.com and see for yourself than any idiot can create a model with half a million polygons but it takes a master to express himself in a thousand. Now if you fail to understand that, I have nothing much to say, nor I think anyone else does.

Um ya, I know. The exaggeration was 50 poly's tho, and you darn well know you can't do jack with 50 polys. If you tried to make a model of a human using only 50 polys it would be like blocks stacked into semi-human shape, and my point was the models in the game look blocky.

"Real 3d" is low poly with high quality textures and things like bump-mapping which makes the model look very good.

About Dungeon Seige, I don't understand how you could think the female model looks like a male in that game. I've played it a lot (mostly with a female character) and I think they did a very good job. They even had seperate walk animations and bone movement for females. Or are you looking for big breasted narrow waisted females?

Speaking of not being able to tell sexes apart, I can't in BD, they both use the same head, hair, and with armor on it's almost imposible to tell them apart.

Anyway, the graphics in this game are a 50-70/100 (average) IMO. Not that I care too much in the long run since I don't care much about graphics in a game, I'm concerned with gameplay more. My point was that the game's graphics were not "great" like the topic starter said, I think most of the reviews out there agree with me.
