1.When i talk to the Chieftons son after i told him what was causing the sickness in the Imp Village, I didnt get any experience points.

2. After talking to the chieftons son, i walk over to the area to where the group of Imps are, and it takes me to a certain location, and just stays there. I cant move or anything, my mouse doesnt even appear on the screen for me to move around, also my in game menu doesnt even appear on the screen, its not locked up because i can still go to the main menu to exit the game.

Don't you get experience when you leave Altofix's house, rather than talking to the chieftain's son?

With the group of imps, there should be a cut scene with the imp hero, after you give him the spider leg he asks for in the spider forest. If there is a problem after he starts talking, some people have avoided it by exiting the conversation rather than talk to him. Another workaround is to try leaving one character on the other side of town, and approach the area with a single character.
