Don't let the myriad of features you'll see impress you.

No, it's not a sour comment from me. It's direct quote from the top of page 7 in the manual, in Swen Vincke's welcoming foreword!

I guess he meant "overwhelm" rather than "impress"?

Kind of funny though, because "not impressed' rather sums up how I've felt so far about Beyond Divinity. And things that didn't quite come out as they were probably intended (like the quote above) seem to crop up quite a lot in this game.

I don't hate it, and I'm certainly not about to rant about how awful it is, but they did seem to cut off the time and money flow well before the cake was properly baked. I'm not really able to feel "impressed" when there's this many bugs, minor in-game errors, features that didn't work properly, uncorrected typos and grammatical stumbles, and general clumsiness in trying to get the soul forged 'heroes' to work with one totally silent character and another who only has limited opportunties to talk to himself in a really odd voice, etc.

Some fun parts and some dull parts, but not quite what I was hoping for after being very impressed with Divine Divinity. For me, this one's about a 6.5 or 7.0 compared to 9.0 for the first one. Still OK though.

Good luck to the Larian team with Divine Divinity 2, and I hope you get a bigger slab of time and money to polish it up and finish it off the way you'd like.

Actually no, these weren't EXACTLY your thoughts. Or else you were just lying in your other post? You said more like the graphics sucked, you could do better, while this person said they were unimpressed by parts but they still wish the team good luck? I think thats ALOT different. Or else its just me.

Dunno what your point is. Ya I don't like the graphics, but as every gamer should know, graphics don't make the game. It's all about the gameplay. This game could be done with simple 3d blocks and I still wouldn't rate it based on graphics.

I said "My thoughts exactly" because I agree with everything he said. How do you get off calling me a liar?

Hiya Kris I understand how you feel and agree in a lot of ways. I've previously posted about "unfinished games" hitting the market and wonder what ever happened to testers. I’ve just about finished and think it's a bit of a disappointment compared to and hope that 2 will be an improved addition to Larians compliment of games. The first game had a lot of glitches and bugs in it too and I had to re-start it three times because of them but the game was such fun it kept me hooked until the end, in comparison this one started of at a bit of a drag then improved but seemed to be missing something I just cant seem to put a label on. I found less addictive than Divine Divinity, somehow the fun factor wasn’t as great. I think that giving us the teleporter stones right at the beginning would have been a good idea, and having them taken away in the fourth act was a big mistake. I found trudging back to the battlefield dungeons quite annoying. Once laden down with goodies I would leave the battlefield then re-enter it and sell my stuff but then I would have to run my characters all the way back to the dungeon. Still the idea of soul forging with the Death Knight was original and did work (a bit more control over him would have been nice) and created some humorous moments. All said and done Ill be looking forward to the next game.

You said these were your thoughts exaclty. And I said NO, because that is not what you said in a different thread that was started merely as sarcasm, if you didn't guess. And so I asked if you lied in the other thread because you didn't list this there.
Why do you make such a bid deal about graphics if you don't care about them?

I never said anything in that other thread other then what I said about the graphics, and this thread has nothing to do with graphics. So I don't know what you're problem is.

Stay on topic.

I think I am having a bad influence on you, Lews.

And you, Xaishi, should see the difference between your posts and this thread. See anything... different?

No. What are you talking about?

The only thing I bashed was the 3d models in that thread. That's it. And as I said here already that's not my main concern in games (far from it). Maybe cuz I grew up playing games that involved only a few pixels. That doesn't mean I can't comment on the graphics tho.

I also think the voice acting sucks, but that's easily fixed by turning them off.
