As a software tester who's main flow of work involves web-based training programs, I can sincerely say I despise Netscape in all it's shapes and forms! It gives me no end of headaches and errors, it looks rubbish, it's slower than IE, and for localisation it's a nightmare!!!
I have to check stuff in IE and Netscape which triples my workload as Netscape is always a mess! I wish it would crawl under a piece of malicious MS windows code and die!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
I hope what you are saying does not apply to Mozilla because Mozilla is so superior to IE.
hmm I think the letters "IMHO" are missing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Mozilla is so superior to IE.
Security Documented IE security flaws to which Mozilla is not subject Security suvey reveals more breaches with IE than Mozilla. Advertising Mozilla has a built in popup blocker. IE does not.
Mozilla has a downloadable ad blocker. IE does not.
Tabbed Browsing Mozilla has it. IE does not.
Tabbed browsing makes web surfing more easy, convenient and powerful. For instance it gives you the opportunity to set simultaneous multiple web pages as your home page in comparison to IE which allows you to set only one.
Customizeable Mozilla's official extension page gives you a long list of available extensions to enable your browser to do almost anything you could want. I once downloaded an extension which allowed me to reload pages automatically. I found it lacking in a few respects; I sent my feedback to the developer and within one month he adapted all my suggestions and incorporated them into an updated version. You will never get that kind of response from IE.
Up to date The following is a quote from Jugalator at The Amazon Basin.
"IE's HTML engine itself hasn't seen any maintenance since 2001 (if not looking at heaps of security fixes) and even back then it was falling behind. If you're looking for a developed HTML engine, you're better off looking for Mozilla, Opera, Konqueror or Safari. IE development to improve standard support has halted. It will soon be 3 years since Microsoft even touched its basic feature set, much less its standard support."
Mozilla by contrast is being continually updated.
So we have several objective reasons which support the statement that Mozilla is superior to IE. Not just my opinion.
