I think installing the patch should work.
You can, of course, continue without the teleporter stones. There is one BF key you won't be able to reach without the teleporter stones, but not the last (or the first, so...). There are also ground teleporters in A3, they cover most of the ground. And you can go to the BF if sth goes wrong...
