Hello, I am new to to forum. Just joined because I have an error I cannot correct. Was playing Beyond Divinity last night and the computer shut down. Not from the game. We had a small power surge. Re booted sys and got the message that the game did not shut down properly. Did the who video test thing. Then tried to go into my save game. It did not show the map in the box. It would let me pick that game, but there was no name in the name box just in the menu, and then it after I picked that game it had a little box that said custom with a checkmark. Would not load that game. I went through the forum last night and did not see anyone with this problem. Please help me figure out how to fix that game. Oh, just found this error in my BD Folder: LCDebug.Error at Sat Jun 26 08:01:54.515 2004. Cannot switch to savegames\BD_ACT1_Start Would that have anything to do with my problem? It is in act 2 level 16 character. I am running win xp home, AMD Athlon 2200 1.81Ghz, 1 gig DDR ram, Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4200 video card, was running PC Cillian when playing the game. I don't do that anymore. Also I run the game in the 640X480 configuration. Am a little new to posting about computer problems, so I hope this information is ok. Thanks in advance for any help!

Ouch, that's nasty.
Unfortunately power surges can cause damage to game files that goes a bit deeper than just corrupting a save.
However, there is still hope that your damage isn't that bad. The first thing I'd do would be to re-instal the game. I'm not at the right computer to check, but it sounds like there might be some corruption in files that are used in conjunction with any save.
After that I'd just work through all the saves, from most recent to oldest and see if any have escaped corruption.
Back up anything that looks useful before you fiddle around though.
Another things that's worth a try is to run scandisk and see if it reports any bad sectors, or gives any indication that you now don't have the full disk size available.
I had something similar when playing Knights of The Old Republic. I was about a quarter through when it happened. Alas, the general damage to the data on the hard drive was too widespread to fix and I had to cut my losses and reformat.
Which reminds me - I must back up my BD saves to my second drive again. Complete restarts are a pain....
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I did run scan disk, and de fragged drive. Kinda weird. Every time I go to the windows key when I am playing Beyond Divinity, now I am getting a windows error. The Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal to one with a ton of numbers. Well I formatted the d drive a few months ago. As well as the c. So I don't know what else to do. I did re install the same day I posted this message. Of course saved a copy of the savegame folder first. Oh, I loved KOTOR great game. Never had any problems with that one. After re install the one saved game would still not load. But all the other saves did, but they did before as well. It was my husbands that got messed up. And he only had one save. He started over again today. He is alsmost where he was before, Imp village level 12 instead of the level he was before. But I have 3 saves. So it's all good. Thanks again.

Interesting link to the thread about the Windows key.
Yet more of Raze's amazingly useful technical hints and advice. I was delighted to see that Larian acknowledged your wonderful work on these forums with "Brother Raze" in the game. Richly deserved.
Amazingly, I don't seem to hit the windows key (I manage to make every other type of fumble and mis-hit though).
My keyboard also has Wake, Sleep and Power buttons right above the Pause, Scroll, and Print screen buttons. I shut the machine down so many times when trying to pause one game that I took the back off the keyboard and removed the 3 little plastic cups that operate the wake, sleep and power keys. Not needed, and all sweet now! Might do it for the windows one too.

Ok well thanks for the help. I installed the omega drivers and it all seems fine now. Not one game crash, and no more problems with save games. Thanks for the info, it worked like a dream.
