Check this out (and don't you wish you had saved more often
the wooden key opens a wooden box on another level - one you should have visited before - this gives you a key to another box... and so on.
Lots of going between levels which is fun if you like that sort of thing.

PS Once you get the gold chest open IMHO the goodies aren't really worth it but its fun to do the first time round and you may finish some quests along the way
