Gneen, you sound like a natural to play Morrowind.
You can take over a house in Morrowind (or download somebody's plug in, or even build your own). Then you can collect and display all your trophies!
I remember a guy who had a huge collections of pillows (maybe it was you??).
Others had different rooms for each item they collected. One guy hoovered up all the lanterns (or was it candles?) and decorated a section of town with them. And so on.
I built myself a room with the Morrowind editor and spent many happy hours furnishing it and then displaying and storing my loot. Fortunately though, I can be selective and I only kept interesting or unusual items. Plus of course a good cross section of weapons, clothing and armour. My favourite was a chest containing all the books in the game, which I found in the editor items list already fully stocked.
So in BD I was able to resist the urge to keep stockpiling everything. I even stopped smashing all the barrels.
I have all the tendencies you mentioned above but, apart from leaving quite a lot of points unspent (not really needed) I learned about half way through to stop fussing over which charms to use, which items to keep, and so on.
The one obsession I find impossible to give up is the 'pixel farming' that chud mentions. I think of it as 'lawn mowing' and my characters will solemnly plod up and down the map until it's nice and tidy, and all is exposed.
So the DK and I were often to be seen lurching round dungeons like a couple of drunks. Not lost, just sweeping up the darkness...
