Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Starting over, but should I be a mage or survivor?

Ok, it's like this, I'm starting over as either a mage or survivor, but I can't decide which, and also which sex to be at the same time. Anyways, to the questions.

1. Which is easier to be, and why?

2. Which first few skills should I choose, and why?

3. What should my main weapon type be, and why?

4. Any other advice would be great.

I played warrior and mage => I found mage easier, due to powerful spells
If you play warrior => the male gets 1 skill pt extra if you save immediately.

Skills:
for both:
alchemy to mix potions ASAP => blue and red to white. The white ones are far more effective.
Lockpick - as this skill is very important in Div
Identify, so you don't need to visit traders so often
enchant weapon => so you can use charms to boost up your stats

For mage:
As mage meteor. this skill is sufficient for the first area - then lightning. In general, buy books, buy books, buy books.
Survivor curse => as mage lvl 1 was sufficient to curse and lower enemy resistance
Know creature - at lvl 5 you see enemy resistances and can use magic efficiently.

I went for swords - as the variety is large in this game. (one-hand+shield)

When you have decided what weapon you want to use learn the skill which allows you to use the weapon more better.
As a mage or survivor you would probably want to use a light weapon,like a spear,some swords,daggers and for a survivor a bow.

Survivor is probably easier due to the deadly gift skill.
I would say know creature is good to get the hitpoints of a monster(for a fighter/survivor) but as a mage it would be helpful to get know creature to the max as it shows the resitances.
