I've already been over the Crystal Forest long before talking to the Cursed Man. And now I've been to the Black Imp and looked for Raven where the map you generously supplied showed her. I assume she should be with the pink crystal with the shards around and the bedroll besides it. No Raven there, though. I've run across the whole area a dozen times - but can't find her.

And my quest-book claims "I've found a cure for the Cursed Man." Huh?

(Out of boredom as I was running around already I did pick up the three plants I'll need. - But that was only after I couldn't find Raven.)

Doh! Figured out what the problem was. I only needed to talk to the Cursed Man again. Now Raven's there just fine and made me the cure.

But I've got another oddity. My questbook isn't always updating correctly. For instance most of the Ranaar-quests didn't show up. Nor did the last quests the necro gave me. I saw the diary turn red - but nothing changed.

And although I gave the merchant his amulet long ago (and he turned to a statue), I still have the quest.

The log book is indeed buggy when it comes to the Raanaar quests - I'm hoping for a patch.

Merchant and a stupid log book => the quest turns up again, if you speak to him afterwards IIRC? I warned him and gave him the amulet - then didn't speak to him. But don't worry, you got the XP pts in this case.

The Raanaar quests (the ones not turning up) are indeed a XP problem. You get the reward always, but not the XP. Dunno why - the German version did not have this problem (I can only confirm this up to GV version 1.3)

Okay, thanks.

I've got some other questions now concerning skills: I just can't find anybody to teach me Alchemy Extract above 2nd level. I thought I had learned it by now - but I still can't put points in there. Hmph!

I've tried to find a list of teachers via the search-option - but I guess something like this doesn't exist (yet).

Btw, concerning skills, if one char has the skill "Trade" do I have to have this one as leading-char during trades for that to work, I suppose? How high is it worth it to go with this skill?

Also with Wisdom? Is the skill worth it? And how high? (I've got it at lvl 6 right now - but then when I find the BF-keys, I don't gain much exp there anymore as I'm a level or two higher than I'd be otherwise.

Does higher Durancy of Weathermagic augment the dam the spells deal?

How much points to invest with my bow-wielding mage? I've got it ~40 now and I still find cool armour at times but I'm just not sure if it's worth it investing the points in str...

Edit: one more thing: I'm in the catacombs now - and found the last BF-key. But is there a way down somewhere? I'm starting to feel blind...

Annabelle teaches alchemy lvl 4 from BF Act 2-4. In case you bought it... well, there are books giving this skill, BUT: the book skill is always lvl 2. So, if you bought lvl 4 and didn't max it out - then got the book, your lvl cap was reduced to 2 again.

Teacher list exists => Desdemona has made a wonderful one. Please, look for her page. I'm at work and can't open several windows at the same time.

http://studwww.ugent.be/~kvloeber/BD/TA.html

here is her page - it's really awesome

Trade => I didn't invest in this skill. Pickpocket was nicer - steal the money/potions etc. instead of trading.... You are allowed to haggle for a lower proce, this was too strenuous for me.

Wisdom => I think, you only get 1-2 lvls higher - and only the char with this skill has the advantage. I didn't invest in it.

Durancy => didn't invest into it. Spells were powerful enough in my case. It doesn't cost additional mana IIRC.

Had an archer/survivor/mage => she had 80 strength, so she could carry heavy armour. Did that with gold charms.

It doesn't augment the damage an sich,
but for acid rain and meteor shower the same enemy may be hit several times (which is of course a huge advantage).
For lightning storm and wind of furies however I don't really see an advantage (wind: cone lasts longer, damages enemies that wander into it will be hit if it's still there, for lightning storm I failed to see any advantage whatsoever).

Thanks for the link. That's really awesome.

Meh @ book in that case! I hope that I'll get to A4 soon then, so I can buy it from her again.

Nope, Durancy doesn't cost mana - which is why I wanted to know if it still upgrades damage.
Oh, as I'm using exactly Lightning Storm and Winds of Fury, I guess it's pointless for me... smirk

Hmm, I just don't like Pickpocket. In particular as it doesn't let me choose what to Pickpocket. But I guess I'll try it.

Thanks for the maps. That helps a lot.

@Lira: Ok, about the alchemy prob => if you are in Act 4 and buy the alchemy skill from Annabelle. MAX out your skill, please - if you don't and open a certain skill book in mage Markhuntar's cupboard => you're on lvl cap 2 again, ok?

Pickpocket => yes, it lets you choose - you just have to hover your mosue patiently over the heap until you get what you'd like. But each to his/her own

You are right about Pickpocket. I guess I had a wrong image of it for some reason. Might be from another game.

I tried it finally. Still gave me a shock when I tried it just after getting to A4 and the next reaction was "I've been robbed." Only after a moment I realized this pertained to the quest I was being sent on!

So now I'm in A4 - and just failed the Test of Knowledge for the third time. I don't really see why - but well, I guess I'll just live without another useless unique.

Tsk, you missed a permanent intelligence potion, Lira. Maybe you'd give it another try?

*shrugs* Or maybe I've been just playing too long in one run... In any case I'm not retrying it now. Will probably do better when I replay.
I'm on the first summoning quest now. I already know I need to summon an imp - but I'm pretty much clueless as to where to gather the ingredients.

Also there are still two locked doors in the tunnels that I didn't manage to get into. Guess I didn't find all levers. (But I hate such lever-games... :/)

In DD maxing Wisdom would give give you an extra level, possibly 2 if you used Ressurect a lot to re-kill creatures. Wisdom - is it worth the skill points?

In BD you need 4 times the skill points to get the same effect (twice as many to get the same bonus, required for each character). Since you finish the main game around level 30 (compared to about 50 for DD), you will not get an extra level in BD. However, you will level slightly faster, and since you can unlearn skills, the points would be better put into Wisdom than sitting around unused.

Thanks, Raze. I guess when I replay the game (to do it all perfectly ), I won't put any points in Wisdom anymore.

IMHO Wisdom is still OK up to the end of ACT III when it wears out its usefulness - so save tons of gold and use the skill points from Wisdom for your 'Hero' for something else - early in Act IV (say after BF1). However I max out my DK on Wisdom towards the end of Act IV.
