Purchased game 2 weeks ago...installed, ran fine, played awhile, decided to just delete (using Add/Remove) until ready to play in earnest. Today, decided to install and play. Did the correct things, took about 11 minutes, Disk l, and Disk 2 asked for and used, icon on desktop. Anyway, appeared fine. When clicked on Icon to play, got screen (checking CD), which was fine, did that before when I installed. Rec'd error: Wrong CD Key, etc. Error 18.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0. Swapping disks did no good. Ran virus scan...nothing. Ran spyware...nothing. So, uninstalled, using game Uninstall, which took a long time, and usead 'search' to make sure nothing left, reinstalled game, clicked on icon, received same 'checking CD Key' and error wrong CD Key again. I have worked on this problem all morning..no results. I have ran and re-ran everything.. I can put the Disk 2 in, and it checks CD Key, and it appears to work, but it loads about 3/4 way, then hangs. Suggestions??? Remember, folks, this was installed two weeks ago, ran fine. I deleted...now tried to reinstall and cannot get the game to load. I know it installs because there is the folder, files, icons, etc. But this checking CD Key business and error is getting to me. This game was expensive and sorta would love to play it....thanks....

The disk 2 (game disk) has to be in the drive when you start the game. If the CD check dialog disappears without giving an explicit error message, it means the CD check was OK. If the game doesn't start then, there's a problem with the game itself, not with the CD protection.
The very first thing the game does when started is playing the intro movie. Maybe you can try to play this movie in media player, and see if it works? It should be something like "intro.mpg"... (I don't have the game with me here, I'm not home)

The intro.mpg file is in the ..\Beyond Divinity\Static folder. Do you have any video filters (recently) installed? At least the ReClock DirectShow Filter needs to be disabled to play the game videos. Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to start the game?

To all guys with resonses...thanks. No, worked all day on this problem and tried to do everything...I knew to use Disk 2, etc., because, remember, it did run once! Also, configuration should have been no problem...but I did run all tests just to make sure. Finally, late last night, when it got to installing DirectX, I usually said 'no' since I had already had DirectX 9.0 installed. But this time, I said, what the heck..go for it! Anyway, after that, the darn game did run! Guess for some reason, it liked their version of DirectX 9.0 better than my version of DirectX 9.0 (although the same version). Anyway, thanks to all. I did work long and hard...and thanks for the resonses. But, guess what, I do have a masjor problem remaining. If I save a game during play, when it saves, the screen is then black (no picture). Can get it back, but a pain. Really, this game is much, much, much more difficult to run than Divine Divinity...not in the same ball-park. I enjoyed so much the Diving Divinity, but, seems you have to work your rear end off to make this BD play and run. So, are you having fun yet??? Thanks..

Thanks...did all that before installing. Anyway, late last night got the game to run, although poorly. Anyway, not much worth working my hind-end off to make a game run. So, just may give up. To much hazzle. Thanks....

But, guess what, I do have a masjor problem remaining. If I save a game during play, when it saves, the screen is then black (no picture). Can get it back, but a pain. Could you give some more details ? The whole game screen goes pitch black ? Even the interface disappears ? Are you running the game with FSAA ? Try switching it off, it may help.

If I save a game during play, when it saves, the screen is then black (no picture) Have you tried pressing the 'X' key (or, if you changed the hotkeys, the key to recenter the screen on your lead char)? If I had this problem, it was mainly because my mouse cursor had somehow scrolled way out of the screen.
