joe hisaishi is a composer who's works made quite an impact in japanese anime films; Spirited Away, Castle In The Sky (my fav opening track), Princess Mononoke, Parasite EVE, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, etc... . u should check out his official website & sample some of his works. this guy's music is symphonic.

as for yoko kanno, she composed music for Cowboy Bebop series & movie soundtracks, Ghost In The Shell: Standalone Complex, Macross Plus, Texhnolyze, Wolf's Rain, Gungrave, etc... . her style's jazz. honestly, it took me a while to appreciate her music & once i do, it's very hard not to listen to at least one of her songs before going to bed. every day. the only jazz musician that i really listen to. & i'm no jazz lover. u can check out Yoko Kanno Database website for more info of her works. alternatively u can check out a fansite featuring samples of her works. both in mp3 & real.
