talk about apocalyptica, yes, i have heard of them. i am not & never will be a fan of metallica (& also music similar to those hair metal sound) but i must say, apocalyptica made metallica's songs into something not of this world. in another words; it rocks ****ing hell!

using strings (my guess: violin, viola, cello, etc) to play those songs are really cool & enjoyable for a long drive back home from work.

as for joe hisaishi & yoko kanno, have u tried the link i provided in my previous post, razorUED? i'm sorry to hear that their works aren't easily available at your place. i can imagine though, as it's very hard as well in malaysia to find works that are not britney spears, maroon 5, ..... *pukes* i hate even spelling those names that pollute the airwaves.

Hellsing? well if u like Led Zeppelin & 70's rock music, then Hellsing OST is for u! i love it! in fact, i've been tryign to locate the 2nd OST for Hellsing here in malaysia. again i have to tell u; it's really tough to look for something good. but it's worth it.

@ ubereil -> i think the Cure defines New Wave music which washed the airwaves in the 80's. so musically, the Cure is indeed legendary, just like how Jimi Hendrix made guitar look cool, just like how Beatles made rock cool, how Neil Young started grunge sound, etc. i think power pop is defined by the Cure as well.
