Anyone had a problem where the experience has stopped increasing?
I’m in act III and have finished allot of the main quests and have gone in to battlefields. Part the way through my experience has stopped increasing, level 26 experience 6,549,246. Level 27 starts at experience 6,552,000. This either means: 1. There is a max experience or max level allowed for each act. (Hunting through the forum people suggest that you typically get to level 30 by the end, so I can’t be hitting an overall experience or level limit). 2. Something I’ve done in the game has stopped me gaining experience. 3. I’ve found a bug. (I’ve had patch 1.45 loaded a long while ago, so could be something new).
I went back to an older save game and the same thing happens, with just slightly different experience points.
Anyone had a similar problem or have got any suggestions, preferably helpful ones.

The experience you get for killing monsters is related to the difference between your level and their level. If you are around 10 levels or so above what you are fighting, you are not going to get much experience. There should be higher level monsters deeper in the dungeons or in higher level dungeons, but I don't know if they would be high enough to start giving experience. You would still get experience for completing the quests, in any case.

Well, I'd buy that, except that I'm not at level 26, I'm at level 20 and I'm having the same problem with monsters that are level 12 (a difference of 8) *and* it is only happening in the battleground...it isn't a matter of not getting "that much experience" - I'm not getting any experience so except for the loot, the dungeons are pretty much a waste of time. Interesting, didn't have that problem in ACT I.
Another problem - I have inventory items that don't show up when I visit a merchant. I don't need to carry 2 extra robes that weigh 240 pounds each...for now they're stored in a barrel. I can equip the items and get credit for what they're supposed to yield in terms of stats - but they still don't show up for merchants - this is in ACT II. I've also got weapons and gloves that don't show up - and my Magic Sword mysteriously disappeared <sigh>
And yes, the patch is installed.
I have other complaints, too...but I'd be willing to overlook them if the above were cleared up.
Any help or suggestions appreciated. Taklamai

I noticed that if I was 7 levels higher or more than the monsters that I was killing that I would not receive any exp pts. For ex., if I was level 20, I would have to kill a level 14 or higher monster in order to get any exp pts.
If the items that are not showing up when trading with a merchant are labeled Unique in green than you won't be able to sell them until the next act. I know it sucks, but its only a minor nuisance. Just leave them in a battlefield barrel by the merchants until you're ready to proceed to the next act.
On 2 occassions, I also experienced losing a weapon when I was changing my gear. What happened was that I temporarily lost the requirement to yield that weapon while switching items. One time, the weapon disappeared, but re-appeared when I switched my gear back to before the change. The other time, I lost the item, and had to reload the game. My best advice is to keep multiple saved games, and at the very least save the game every 15-20 minutes in case something goes awry.
Now go slay some monsters! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

experience will indeed stop accumulating if you're too high of a level above the enemies. suggestion for maximizing experience if doing the BFs: in each act, after you find the first BF key, depart for the BFs. kill every monster above ground and in dungeon 1. from that point on, immediately (well, at least soon) upon finding a subsequent key, do that dungeon. by proceeding this way i experienced minimal 'killing without experience'. if you find yourself not gaining, leave. there is truly nothing of value in the dungeons except experience, and continue with the main story. try to proceed to the next key WITHOUT gaining level. this becomes especially true in act IV...
[color:"yellow"] SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (proceed with caution) [/color]
...where there is minimal killing taking place and the experience is derived from puzzle solving - this means that you should gain experience by killing all the BF stuff first (which IS dependant upon level) and leave the 'set experience' puzzles for last (you'll get this amount regardless of level).
