I think he means that KotOR is relatively linear and somewhat "light" compared to the more "hardcore" RPGs like, uh... I don't know. Baldur's Gate 2? But compared to most recent RPGs, IMO, KotOR is positively un-lite. (Yes, that includes BD. BD doesn't even have different choices for male and female characters, and dialogue options are limited as heck.)
I know what he meant by "RPG-lite" but I don't see why it is linear: you have many optinal side-quests, two ways to finish the game, party to customise (as well as weapons and armours), the land is pretty big, the combat is tactical too...
I don't see why to consider BG2 more hardcore than KotOR (even if I like BG2 as much as I like KotOR): there are not many locations in BG2, when you think of it. The map in-between is blank. You might encounter random monsters but that's all. Not to mention, the maps are not too big. If you get beyond the border, the travel icon appears. No, as I said, I don't see a reason why KotOR is "RPG-lite". If you mean that Diablo is "hardcore" then I prefer playing "lite".
