Are you playing version 1.45? There should have been a short cut scene, where Bram speaks and calls out the attack.
Earlier versions caused a crash upon opening the skill book one mage dropped - but I guess, you're not that far, hm?
If possible => I recommend patch and reload - or emptying the content of the dynamic folder of Act 3. Programs/Beyond Divinity/Acts/Act3/Dynamic'
