Red Alert is a prequel to Command and Conquer.
I admit, when I saw McGee's Alice, I was rather annoyed: not only it's a lousy spin-off but the idea itself is a terrible one. Face it: some guy decided he should imitate McFarlane and here he is with a modified Quake engine.
As I already said, I prefer the "linear" KotOR to "unlinear" Morrowind. KotOR has choices that affect the gameworld to a greater scale. You have to make decisions, you need to carefully monitor your character... I never liked the Star Wars movies: the plot was flat (One very good and one very bad sides fighting. Bah) but KotOR adds moral dilemmas and philosophical questions to the SW universe, along with a powerful background. It's no longer good and bad fighting. As an example, both Jedi and Sith are extremal and, truth to be told, I like and dislike them both. Sith give freedom and value emotions, passion. Jedi value wisdom and inner peace.
I disagree that KotOR is linear any more than NWN, Baldur's Gate or Divine Divinity (hell, DD had only one ending). Yes, I find the maps smaller than they should be, but that's all. And keep in mind: from all the RPGs I've cited, only KotOR trully gives you a cinematic experience (the travel FMV sequences are skilfully combined into what seems as one cut scene).
