And Lar talked about at the end-
1. A few little problems with BD
2. Working on D2, and
3. Checking on the people starting work on the Secret Project.
so I think we get info on both at the same time. or d2 first.

@ Stridar
Would you have been more happy with a longer answer as : "No not yet. It's too early to give informations about our next game. There will be a press release some day but i don't know when. I would have been pleased to give you some informations about Divinity 2 but i can't. I am really sorry." blah-blah-blah....
Nice answer ! Isn't it ?
One year ago Lar started to give informations about Beyond Divinity. He talked about the updated engine, the battlefields, the summoning dolls..... Everything he promised was in the game. There was no trickery.
Imagine that a developper talk too early of his new game and says there will be these new features and then he cannot do what he had promised. The customers would be very angry.
Divinity 2 will not be in the store before 18 months maybe more, with informations or without informations we have to wait.

I would ask the imps at larian to say nothing of a release period. We all know programming is a hard and frustrating task with lots of bugs to correct. It isn't wrong of me to think that a release delay could occur. Personally I like the doom³ style.
fan: when is doom³ comming out. doom³ dev: When it's done.
If you are pushed to say a release period please make it 6 months later than projected. That way if it actually done on time we can say "WOW your guys are so smart it took you 6 months less"
sincerly yours
a games who's waithing on halflife 2 and duke nukem forever
PS: About the secret project. I know it's secret and all, but could you realease a riddle or rebus or something else one month before the official announcement that has us searching for hints on what the project could be (somthing to keep the members buzy).
Not in the mood for cheese? That excuse has more holes than a slice this fine Gorgombert!

Every developer has their own style when it comes to handling future releases. Some don't say all that much and other like to keep a steady trickle of information, teasers and snippets coming, to keep the fans interested. usually these snippets don't amount to anything all that earth shattering, but it keeps the anticipation rolling along. It also gives fans the feeling that they are 'involved' in some way - even if that is perhaps somewhat of an illusion. I've been looking around Bioware and Obsidian sites today, and I really like their way of approaching it. Very professional and fan friendly. Check it out. And remember these are games that are as far away from release, or more, than DD2. Neverwinter Nights 2 (Announced a few days ago and due 2006) AtariObsidianDragon Age. Still no publisher signed. release date yet unknown. BiowareDragon Age FAQKind of slicker than "no" isn't it? Come on guys, can't you get your pencils out and jot down a few scraps for the waiting faithful? After a year or more of planning DD2, you must know SOMETHING about it that is worth passing on, and that isn't some sort of highly valuable trade secret. What's the problem with passing a few things on?

Having a German back ground I can appreciate the humour of the Germans. But as you point out one must have to have been in that particular Drow shop to have heard the inflextion in the tone of the answer.
Perhaps one day I might be able to visit that Drow shop.

I wouldn't look forward to this, Stridar - we Drows tend to ... errhm... be a bit experimental and playful with our weapons. If we are not occupied in hunting each other down (happens in the German part of the forum all the time) Kiya <female Drow, vampire origin>

Rats!! Sure wish I spoke German, therefore I could observe the games played in the German forum. Sounds like fun.
I hate rats.

Oh, Drows Lynx and Marian are supporting each other at the moment - but alliances change very often - we are devious Kiya

The only thing I want to know about DD 2 is assurance that Kiya, Raze and a few others are getting 1) a chance to beta
2) a free copy
3) threats with pointy objects to continue to help us poor lost souls, wandering around futilely chasing red dots behind the walls.

Stridar, if you had met Drow Marian in RL in a shop and got the answer "no" - you would have seen his mimic at the same time - he is (and I hate to admit his totally un-Drowish behaviour) a very nice and helpful person. In fact a disgrace for the whole Drow race, brings us into miscredit and raises suspicions, we Drows may be nice <shudder>
What? Ain't drows nice? I always considered them the good guys of the elven branch. How peculliar...

Nope, we're the baddies - a good Drow is a bad Drow - a devious one, plotting, scheming, backstabbing, betraying. Neutral evils at their worst, chaotic evil at their best (errhm, I'm still in training ) Kiya

Is it a good time to point out that the plural form of "drow" is, well, "drow"?
Kiya: have you read the War of the Spider Queen series?

Are the good Drow left handed?

Depends on, Stridar - I just read a book "Canada for emigrants" and was fascinated by the eating habits described there => "as all Anglo-Saxons, the left hand is under the table after having cut the meat. Knife is dropped, fork goes to right hand - slightly tilted body - hand goes under the table - eat. This ritual is repeated several times". Soooooo, if Canadians are lefthanded Drow => they need a free hand to keep a weapon? In this case, a terribly clever method to assassinate the person opposite. So... probably a good Drow - good in assassinating? Kiya <getting confused now> Winterfox: Kiya: have you read the War of the Spider Queen series Nope, English title is unknown to me.

True! But there are some assassinations that happen from the kitchen also.
As I mentioned I'm from a German back ground (Prussian) but negelected to mention I'm also part Hungarian. I've been told that they where wonderers and very good cooks.
So you can see being left handed, German and Hungarian all mixed together could be a leathel combination.
Slightly confused but deceided to add more confusion.

<Gulp> Prussian, Magyar, touched by the Huns and Attila - left-handed => indeed a lethal Drow mixture post reminder to myself => keep one eye under the table, forget eating - heavy plate leggings are vital. Ask an elf to create a tiny crossbow that can be triggered by one hand. Better to only eat at a glass table - only soup should be served.
Ready! I'm prepared! Kiya

Okay, if you wish. As a warlock being in grave danger usually i've several antidots in my blood constantly. So that would be a backfire (Eigentor) for you...
