I just do not trust Larian to get back to me on this issue.

I am in the middle of Act II and all of a sudden I cannot get past the copy protection. I am very, very upset (to say the least). This Starforce program is penalizing us legitimate users.

The Starforce bar goes about 1/3rd of the way and then the disk whirrs and whirrs...then it says disk read error. It's funny, because I never took the disk out between a working startup of the game and this issue.

I am so close to erasing all my hard work and tossing this game into the garbage. What a trying follow-up to one of my most surprising gaming experiences ever (Divine Divinity).

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

Do you have more than one optical drive you can try? If the copy protection finds the install disk first it will not keep looking for the play disc, but that should not be an issue for any CDs not labeled 'Bey_Dev'. Maybe remove any other CDs anyway, if present.

Did you check if the drive is having problems with other CDs? Did you check for dust, etc that might have gotten into the drive and be interfering with reading the CD?

Either something has changed in the system that is causing a conflict, or there is a problem with the CD or the optical drive.

Thanks for the response.

Yeah, unfortunately I have tried all of those things. I don't see what is different right now. Very frustrating.

I am a patient person. I am also a very experienced gamer and have built my own computers, so I think I would know if it was me or my computer causing this issue.

I have not been able to play BD for 3 days. When I was able to play, my game crashed constantly. It was not due to heat, drivers, or any problems.

Now Starforce is unable to read my disk. Every other program has been shut down. It is still not reading the disk. I have sent Larian e-mails. They do not respond. What kind of customer support is this? Give me a cd key please so I can continue to play. I actually bought the freaking game (like always) unlike some people.

The standard responses are slowly building my anger. Other CD's work in my Combo drive. There was no change to my system and the disk was not removed from the drive. How come all of a sudden it won't read. It HAS to be that piece of crap known as StarForce!

PLEASE RESPOND TO MY PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ninerfan,

I have forwarded your problem to my colleague and he'll have a look into your problem tomorrow.

Our apologies for this inconvenience.

Kind regards,

Thanks Lynn.

Again, I am very patient but my frustration is winning. I just want to play the game again.

I appreciate your response.
