I like your idea for having more character classes...
Maybe have elf, human, dwarf, orc, imp (that can only be fun and should come with a natural pickpocket level of 50), and maybe some other race that i have overlooked in my sleep deprived state.
Even if this only applies to looks of the character, or maybe in a very small way influence your starting stats... with an elf having higher stamina than a dwarf, where as a dwarf would start with a higher strength....
Once you have chosen your race, you could chose your class, fighter, survivor, wizzard, druid and i ahve probably forgotten some other class again...
Talking about the elf named larian..... i do remember in DD the secret quest of the larian armour... I would LOVE to see little "easter eggs" like that in DD2 as well... small little things left around that we can find and abuse accordingly, like the Movable Bed in DD... (it was sooo funky to walk around with a full farm style bed in your backpack that weighed nothing.... and i didnt even need to take it out to sleep.... i could just jump into the backpack and have a nice snooz)...
I missed things like that in BD... It would be lovely to have those things back in DD2
