I am almost sure that when I first installed Divine Divinity it was Version
1.0034a. Then I Downloaded the Patch listed on kiya's Site ( 10.3MB) Patch which was Supposed to bring it to Version 1.34. I Applied the patch and yet I still see version 1.0034a. on My Screen.

Then I ran across this on the Same Site:
____________________________________________________________________________
This patch will bring your version of Divine Divinity to V1.34.

It is ONLY intended for the English version of Divine Divinity. It replaces all previous hotfixes/patches/updates. To install it, just download the following file (10,3 mb), run it and follow the onscreen instructions.

Bugfixes addressed in V1.34

- Fix for trolls being already dead when arriving at bridge and the guards being mad for not helping them while the player never saw them before
______________________________________________________________________________

Now that is Exactly what happened when I met the Guards on the Bridge sometime ago--they were fighting a Couple Trolls And I Helped wipe the Trolls out but Both Guards Chastized Me for NOT Helping them out. They were both "Angry 34" at Me.
I posted this before and someone replied that version 1.0034a was "CORRECT"
but I have a hard time believing this is true. Would someone that "Knows" for sure answer this for me?

Now, I have a Warrior Type Char and I had originally invested Skill points in Swords--because thats what I had in the beginning--but later I kept finding these Great Axes so I put some skill points into Axes. Skill Points are hard come by so I would really appreciate some suggestions as to What Skills I should be selecting that would be most beneficial to a Melee Warrior Type Char.
I'm curently at level 13 and have the following Skills:
1.Repair=2
2.Identify=2
3.Elven Sight=3
4.Lockpick=2
5.Swords=3
6.Axes=3
7.Bow=3 not sure why I have this-was just going to try it but then I discovered I could not " Sell them back" so I'm Stuck with it--Heh!
8.Augment Damage=3
9.Augment Defense=3

Any help appreciated. TIA

The patch on my site and the patch on Larian's site are the same. 1.0034a and 1.34 are the same. I took this latest version from the Larian site and simply added it to my site. Now, why the 1.0034 and the 1.34? If I look on my loading screen it says: 1.0034a - but looking on some site descriptions, only the "00" is missing. so, as your sales version had 1.0034a already, nothing happened. In former versions, the guards could be killed by those trolls, leaving you no option to talk to them. In 1.0034a (or 1.34 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> for short) - they remained alive. These guards have no impact on the game IIRC.

About skills, Sigarr => forget everything you learnt in Beyond Divinity. Div is different. If you buy a spell book e.g. and click on it => you activated the spell at once, you need not put pts into it like in BD. Level cap is always 5, ok? Div normally needs a certain char lvl to increase a skill/spell lvl - but buying a book allows you get/increase that lvl at once by one. You can only buy/find spell books, no other ones - and they are random. Exception: some books you can find have a fix location.

I did not pursue the warrior path in a puristic sense, as I played mage, so I concentrated on swords, as Div has a lot of good ones.

You can use iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to remove the skill points you put into Bow Expertise.

How much damage did you do to the trolls? If you didn't get very many hits in, or they did much of the damage before you joined in, maybe they don't consider it help. There is no benefit for them liking you, however, so it doesn't matter if they are angry.

Also, quest fixes only work if you start a new game after installing the patch. If you installed the patch and continued your save game, it probably won't change things like this.
