"AbiWord" recieved a bad review and i reframed from downloading it....although its not good to go about the world trusting everything you hear...im making an exception

based off that review i found references to "Atlantis Nova" and "602PC SUITE 4.0" although i don't think "602PC SUITE 4.0" is free i downloaded it anyway to see if it is for sure.

well, jurak, i have no problem with 602 Pro PC Suite at all, since version 2001 through 2004. what do u mean by finicky? by the way, 602 Pro PC Suite is free for personal users.

oh yes, StarOffice 5.2 is free but not version 6. the current version is free only for education institutes, should they choose to apply for it. OpenOffice, the open source version of StarOffice, works very well & has the ability to convert your files to pdf format, which the feature isn't free in 602 Pro PC Suite. but then MS Office won't give u that feature for free.

of the two, i would choose OpenOffice as it also support Aportis Doc, which is Palm friendly. moreover, it has html editor, spreadsheet, presentation, database, etc.

We use Open Office at work, and have for 2 years. When you save a document, I recommend not using an Open Office file format, but saving it as .RTF or .DOC. This way if you ever need to open it on a machine that uses Word you will be able to.
