Please do a thorough search of the forums and/or ask for help before determining that this is the only option left. Swapping game files around should only be done as a last resort. For items which should be dropped, run your mouse slowly over the area, it could have landed near a southern wall, or be otherwise obstructed.
I still can't find the key to the human council member's house. He is still locked inside! The key was not dropped from the witch and it was not in the elf's house (not on the shelf with the banner and plant, either). I have no idea why it isn't where it's supposed to be, but I'm certain that I didn't pick it up and somehow lose it. My keys never leave my inventory. There's no possibility that I might have accidentally sold, stored, or dropped it somewhere. Am I going to have to use this cheat method to fix the game?? Is everyone absolutely sure that there aren't any other ways I can enter the house? What about the hatch inside? How do I get to it?(Reloading an old saved game isn't an option...)
