I want ot make a backup of my Divine Divnity CDs, onto my hard drive, as Lynn arleady well knows I am suffering from a lost CD and luckily I am capable of playign the game without, however If i lose any other CD I will never be able to play again wihtout buying the game all over again. and as an American I have the right to a backup to prevent the beforementioned scenario. My usual ISO maker, Alcohol 50% has a problem reading the disk so if anyone knows how an ISO can be created please let me know.

And No I will not share my ISO to someone who lost their disk, if you have lost your disk you should have done what i am doing right now and made a backup.

And do not accuse me of being a pirate for having this request or lock this thread, I own a liscense to the software and as an American have the right to back it up.

I say as an American because some countries, Germany for example do not have such rights

Oh yeah and if you do know where to get an ISO please keep it to yourself, no information that could help theives is welcome here, and me creating an ISO could not help any theif uless i gave it to them.

What sort of problem do you have? Does it freeze or give an error message?

You aren't making much Sense here Byblos. You LOST one of Your DD CD's but you CAN Play anyway? But IF you Lose Another one you Can't? Which CD did You lose--The one that Needs to be in the Drive to Play I bet.
Do You understand that You are talking about BURN Software-NOT Making an ISO?
ISO= International Standards Organization! So if you want to know HOW to Make an ISO become A member of ISO.
Alcohol 50%?? Alcohol 52% and Alcohol 120% are the two available. IF your Alcohol 52% WILL NOT BURN your CD then Upgrade to 120% or Get a BETTER BURN Software Program. There are a number of them Available to Purchase.
"Methinks thou dost Protest too Much!"--for IF you are not a Pirate you certainly are comming across as One!

Im making plenty of sense, Im missing the CD with the player models on it so I am restriicted to play as a female Mage,
Dont make a baseless assumption like that. Ok [nocando]?
I have the play disk... and I want to create a backup in the ISO format which I have evry right to do so.
ISO is a commonly used format for CD images, I normally use MDL but my program has trouble with this CD for some reason.
I am not a pirate, yeah because I want to have my liscense safe I am considered a thief. thats rediculous.

And NO i dont want to burn it, I want to make an ISO or MDL so I can burn it later if my play disk vanishes like my installation disk 2 did.

IF I was missing the play disk there would be no point in the other CDs DUH!

The problem I have with making the ISO is that alcohol just gets disk read errors for eternity, I tried all of its little features but none seem to remedy this

"Blind mode" (if it exists) should help. The copy procedure might not be compatable with your drive. Some drives report errors, others will cancel upon finding an error.

Try someone else's computer. You can get the ISO home by burning it to a CD. I know that sounds absurd, but if you leave it in ISO form, it might work. Or burn the ISO to a disc and use alcohol on that disk which shouldn't be "faulty".

And hwy cant the program just copy the CD exactly how it is, why does it have to have all kinds of features and compressions and crap. >_<

My plan is this. make an MDL of the disk and then Bind that disk to a virtual disk drive.. how could the game know the difference? Somehow it knows the difference ith gothic 2. Im going to re-copy gothic 2 using all the special features and see if that changes anything.

More modern games access teh CD drive directly and don't request the cd from the system. This means that unless the data in inside the CD Drive Hardware it won't find it. A virtual drive is software and won't be seen. This is only for some games. I don't know how Divine Divinity is set up.
