Hmm IIRC (and it has been a while ) in my day we only had a score of 1 - 10 was kinda simple nobody got a 10 ... mostly and 5 was no good anything below 5 forget about it usually 7, 8, 9, was a a pretty good score *rummages thru old papers* hmm yep 7's and '8's with the occasional 9 and 6 thrown in

In France it is nearly the same thing but it is between 0 and 20 instead of 0 and 10.
10 is not good but just correct. Anything below 10 forget about it.
Usually between 14 and 16 is good. 17, 18 and 19 is a pretty good score.
20 is excellent but exceptionnal.
There is no competition between the students for getting the bettest scores because nearly all the educating system is free.
Young people have to go to school if they are less than 16 years old.
Something important for me : there are no multiple choices tests for evaluating the knowledge of the students.

I hated those kind of tests, but I had some teachers that loved them. In fact I
had one teacher in college that all he gave was multiple choice tests. Even his
final was multiple choice.

Heh I remember those
passed 1 exam by the skin of my teeth (hmm 1 for the quote topic) by making a rather large Tick in the box and covering 2 when the examiner got his lil piece of plastic with the black boxes on it he said that's wrong I said no look see ... my pen just shot over the mark He looked at me with a sly grin and must have figured if I was smart enough to pull that one off ... I should get the mark ....and I did, I passed by 1 point

I had a friend who passed one of those true and false exams by pulling out
a coin and flipping it heads or tales for each question in class.
He got 2/3rds of the questions right!
Talk about luck!

I think that's how the theory test when takeing your drivers license is formed here. We allso get a lot of (what to call it, what to call it?) exams (not a test, but something that examine something) with questions like: do you take drugs? Do you know anyone who's gay? Do you find todays society confuseing (alternative: yes, no and not shure. I pick no out of principe, since picking anything elswe proves you're pretty dumb. Espessially don't know...).

True False tests are worst than multiple choice to me. Usually they all either
look true or they all usually look false to me.

Wish I had thought of that. I could have used it on a few of those tests.

Personnaly I always prefered multiple choices exams. They were faster and easier to me.

Well I think they're basically just the same as normal questions, though they give you the answer somewhere. If I'd forget something it surely would come back to me just by seeing the possible answers.

i gave questions with 2-3 correct answers out of 6-7
All correct answers are needed. If you forget one it is counted false. All correct answers + 1 false is counted false.

i have not finished to correct that yet but i may already say that the results are catrastrophic. <sigh> (won't do it again next year)

I rememberred one of therse test we once had (in English btw with our teacher who is a lector (read pain in the...)), In the test it said: The gansters weren't quite like anyone else (and a lot about why, which was they used a lot of jewllery). The question was something like What was said about the gangsters? And first alternative was they weren't like anyone else, which I crossed. It was wrong (WHAT?!? [Linked Image]). The right answer was they liked fancy things (which it didn't say they did, it just said they used it). About half the class fell on that question (all the good students btw). Great fun...

I don't agree. These tests are basically different than normal questions.
In math you can make several mistakes and finally get the good solution.
You can make a very good work and then just a small mistake at the end and get the bad solution.
And some ways for getting the good solution are better than others.
The QCM are given by lazy teachers who do not really care about their students.
I am very surprised to know that MG is one of these teachers.

I humbly confess my mistake there. (not my laziness though).

As a matter of fact i thought it was going well with the topic ("translation" of natural language in requests language SQL)... but i must say i can't understand the logic (in "common" meaning) of the (horrible) mistakes i've read. so i guess you're right on that point barta.

Hmm it was only 5/20 points for the exam and was supposed to help the students (er... no!... well not there at least). Can't say i've ever been a fan of MCQ (?QCM) so it won't be too hard for me to give them up.

Did you use a translating program or is it a joke ?
BTW in this section, you can talk in any language.
If you would like it you could talk in swedish.
