I honestly think if stale smoke didn't smell so bad then people would complain a whole lot less. Maybe we could make an odourless cigarette....

That's an excellent point, which I hadn't really considered Womble. There's a sort of literally "in your face" aspect to smoke which is not a deliberate attempt by smokers to "get up the noses" of non smokers. In fact it's more of an accidental by product. I wonder if it's possible to change the smell or volume at all?

I tolerate it that not all are vegetarians - I tolerate that people drive (I have no driver's licence by purpose) - I don't lecture about alcoholism - I don't stick up my nose at overweight people (being as uncontrolled as I am with my drug? And costing health care a whale of money as well?). I use public transport, so I'm used to non-smoking areas - and if I have the choice, I take non-smoking seats in the plane.

Well said Kiya. I have rather been preaching haven't I? Perhaps I have a secret fear of slipping back to my addiction of 25 years ago.

On another thread I posted a line something like "She liked to do good, and you could tell the people that she did good to by the the hunted look in their eyes!" - I didn't realise at the time that that's ME on this thread!! Aaargh!

I guess I'm just proud that I was able to kick the habit, and would be pleased if I could motivate someone else to do so. I'm generally a pretty tolerant person, along the lines of what you have said, and we do provide an ashtray for our smoking friends, etc. But I've said too much already...
