Time to move along here, so let's choose a winner!

Thanks, all, for some really good posts... but it's left me going back and forth and back and forth and forth and back...

Some very apt illustrations from Cleglaw -- a picture being worth 1,000 words -- made him a strong contender from the start, but then the thoughtful and sometimes very funny comments quickly levelled the field. Ubereil had some good suggestions about containing the plague of advertisers, and forcing some balance in their blather; Draghermosran matched that with the clever pitch that advertising is really a life-improving force... Kris certainly gets my vote for Advertiser of the Year, and we should all buy into KRISKORP right away before the stock price goes up!

Kiya's mention that adverts keep us "busy with earning... and yearning" was bang on to the point, and Master Guroth's reminder of uncontaminated places still left in the world was most welcome. Alrik's beautifully expressed image of advert pollution as a loss of innocence was particularly poignant.

Several mentioned the dreadful trend of paying high prices for "designer" clothing and accessories, effectively doing the advertisers' work for them. Plowking was quite right in saying, "They should pay us to wear their crap..."!

And along comes GlanceALot to point out the bad news: that suppression of the advertising blight would destroy civilization as we know it!

But finally, after much pondering, the argument that won out was the one that demonstrated the endless and often nasty cycles of competition and one-upmanship in advertising...

... so the winner is: janggut!
