Faile is currently in Seattle, I hope. I know what part of the city she said she was in, but she never said when she'd leave. I just hope she's still there and having fun. And comes back.

Anyone know that Mt Saint Helens might explode anytime?

And I am probably the only 13 year old in the world who doesn't like fizzy things. Except: Small sips of something Charry flavored, or a glass of champaign. sp?

By not posting in response to this particular argument, I am winning the argument.

The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

I am most certainly not argumentative.
I am quite decided, and what I have decided is that I am Right.
And if anyone chooses to disagree, I smile sweetly... and turn them into a frog. Or a cute little mouse. And then I let the cat loose. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kitty.gif" alt="" />

You are wrong to disagree with Rincewind.
He is going to turn you into a frog.
And then you will have to wait during centuries to find a girl who would accept to kiss you on the lips.

You do? Ha! You probably think the Librarian is a huge Oragantage ( sp? ) too right?

Ha! He's actually as big as King Kong. He lives in a jungle forest that everyone thinks is a university. The Archanceller's Hat? Nah, its actually..... Lets not go there.

But you know.....

Allright. I'll change it! Geez. You can't do anything without pissing someone off these days!

Thanks Womble - I very much appreciate your gesture. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

I'm sure that 'retarded' people were not really your intended target, but that quote hit a raw nerve with me (and obviously another poster too).

It might sound like I'm being overly "politically correct" but it's just too close to the bone for me to laugh at and made me wince very time I saw it.

The reason I work in the area is that 12 years ago my son was born severely handicapped. I gave up my business to take over his full time care (my wife still works) and I also home school him as the local education system was unable to provide appropriate help.

It's been a difficult 12 years but we're slowly making progress.

Matthew couldn't talk for 6 years (which usually means that you're pretty much 'vegetable' material) but I made up picture cards that we used for simple communication for the early years. And he did eventually begin to speak.

He's still 'retarded' of course, and he always will be, but he has made great progress in many areas and is a very lovable character in his own way.

I've just been asked to make breakfast - "A humungalous toast please Dad..." so I'd better stop waffling and get to work! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks again for making the swap. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

OK, toast humungalised.... Back on topic.

Brian Clough (British football/soccer manager) was recently written up in our newspaper (He died). They quoted his method of settling arguments between himself and the players he coached. I forget the exact words, but it went something like this:

"We discuss both sides of the issue for a few minutes, and then we decide that I was right!"

I'm with Brian. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

Off topic:

I've known Matto all his life and can confirm that he's a gutsy and likeable little guy with a good sense of humour. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> He certainly deserves some respect (and in this neighbourhood he gets it too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ) as do countless others who battle against such difficult odds.

It's my genes, so really, it's my father's fault (Do you have someone else to blame? Yes: Problem solved!).I got it from him <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />.

PS nobody's perfect. Not even me (even if I am the most perfect human being alive. I wonder why I have bad selfconfidence...)DS

Shouldn't it be a winner picked by now? I long for a decent topic to discuss!
