Probably Word is not the best text editor but for me it is the easiest to use and i will not change for a better one if it would be too difficult for me to understand how it works.
Try to understand that i am not like you, i don't think like you, i dont live like you so i can like other softwares or other games just because i am different.

To each their own and what they feel the most comfortable with in a Text Editor.
I prefer to use Textpad. My sister uses EMACS. And still many others use Notepad. There are many more text editors out there and they're all good.
One text editor is no better than another. It all comes down to the person using it and what their personal preferences are.
