On research in general, it seems like a constant push and shove between researchers (to whom the pursuit of knowledge can be every bit as entrenched as religion is to the religious..) church dogmatists and secular ethicists.
But I really don't know enough about the politics of it to know which way the "reckless research versus fearful repression" pendulum is swinging these days. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> I expect they all just ignore each other and go their own way.
