A pat on the back for the moderators here.

I have been working with computers for over 20 years now and have to say that with all the possible combinations of hardware and software there will be problems when new games or any other software is released. Not one company (even Microsoft) can cover all the possible combinations when writing software. Every time I have asked for help from any Tech. Support, or posting to a Forum, be it from hardware or software related they have done their best to solve the problem as it arises.
My hats go off to all the moderators here and to all the people on the forums that try their best to help others in need.

Like I said at the beginning it is impossible to cover all combinations of hardware and software when writing programs but I guarantee that they do their best to fix problems as they find out about them.

Keep up the great work all you gal’s and guy’s and a great big pat on the back to the hard work that LYNN, Raze, Lady Rain, and the rest of ya dedicated followers.

So for all you complainers and also you Xaishi give the folks the credit they deserver for the work they do be it here in the forum or at their regular job.

JWR,
i'm 300% agreeing with you and you are really well intented it seems so i'm a bit sad to reply this to you but:
if lynn has closed the former topic it is certainly not for it to reappear here i think...
there, you have taken a risc...
the (non-)debate is dead... no need to open the grave

Thanks a million for the compliment (although i feel that i do not deserve it (YET) since i am fairly new to this forum (and i am not a mod, nor have any special status here).

And i agree fully aswell that Larian is doing a very good job with their support. I am currently waiting for another game forum (doom 3 - or in my opnion - tripply doomed) to come back about some silly flaws in the game - like hanging when your mouse hovers over ceratin objects (a VITAL door being one of them)... whenever i had a problem with LArian's games' i always had some solution (or at least the promise of a solution) within hours....

I do agree that Lynn (i am sure she dies every night from exhaustion, only to be resurected by an evil alarmclock every morning to continue the daily torture of this forum), Raze, Kiya, Desdemona and MANY more deserve loads of thanks and appreciation for their efforts.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> and welcome to the forum... hope you will also stay to come help us with the endless task of sorting out various hardware and software probbies <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

@ MG

No Lynn did not close Xaishi's topic to end the debate about the support.

The topic had been closed because people were too much agressives and because Xaishi flamed Alrik. I was very shocked by his words.

@ everybody : you can say the game is awful or the Larian are stupid but you can't be agressive.

Sorry, Barta, I don't quite agree to your sentence part "... or the Larian are stupid but you can't be agressive" => "stupid" is a personal attack as well, as the Larians are individuals.

@to all => May I rephrase in my case? I can understand anger and frustration about a game very well, but I really wish, personal insults would stop - be it against gamers or Devs. There's always a human behind an anonymous nick. Please, give the respect you'd wish for yourself - even if you are very, very angry.

True @ the reason for the thread being closed, things were getting a bit too heated for anyone's liking.

and i agree that you can say that you dont like the game.... the problem comes in when people say that they dont like the game, but arent open minded enough about the subject to allow other people to like the game, or to tell you WHY you may have problems with the game. If in that topic, X tuned around and rather said something in the line of: ok, let me see if what you are saying it true, let me check my computer for "abnormalities" (for lack of a better word in my sleepy state), and if it makes a difference, Fine, THanks for the help... if it didnt help... OOPS you lose, i STILL dont like the game.

@ Kiya - I totally agree with you... personal attacks are just NOT supposed to happen.

Do you agree that it feels great to have someone give you the thumbs up and tell you THANKS, good work <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It makes debating (or non debating) with other people worth the while...

Probably i did not use the right words.
I am in this forum since a long time and i never saw one only topic locked or deleted because the game or one of the Larian got personnal attacks.

I just said that somebody could write a very bad comment about the game or the developpers, his topic would not be closed.
Nobody is happy to read bad comments but strong people assume them.

In Xaishi's topic the support was attacked and people could think that the topic had been closed to stop the attacks.
I don't think so.

@jwr: sorry i was somehow overcautious it seems... anyway as i have already said i am agreeing with you in all points...

@kiya... you're right for your @ all as ever...

@barta... is there a day where we will understand each other Ancient One?
my really limited english may be in cause but what i meant was not that lynn has closed this forum because of its object... but sorry to correct you: Xaishi was flaming everyone here before he walks a step with alrik (and as you and as i have already said i was really shocked with that too)... it may explain the agressivness of some (and i must confess i was one of them... as so far as now with no particuliar regrets)...

@all (especially @all those who don't like larian games or larian)...
i won't be after you (in a way i don't really care and even so... many critics about the games may be justified (ok or not, don't mind)) but there is limit in the way it has to be formulated (see kiya post)...

I have closed that other thread because people started to insult each other. I don't care if someone blames support for whatever reason, because we always try to help out asap. At least: You can't hurt me with these insults <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
In any case, threads with insults will always get closed since you all agreed with the forum rules which mentioned... correct. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

And thanks for the nice words, JWR. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

2. I suppose Aliens just feel different about insults... (they probably use it like chilli ketchup to spice up their food ) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

If a game is called "stupid" - or the game idea is called "stupid" => the attack is not aimed at an individual IMO. And I agree with you - I have seen a lot of attacks directed at the Devs and the topic was not closed either. I just uttered my personal opinion in this case (regardless of a topic being closed or not) about the culture to address each other. I make no difference between a Dev and a gamer => both are humans.

And yes, I understood your intention (about why it was closed), and I agree in this case, as well, Dragoness <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kissyou.gif" alt="" />

@LadyRain => yes, getting a pat on the shoulder is more motivating in any case

All this post was for in the first place was to give credit where it was due. The moderator's and all other parties that participate in the forums deserve a great big hand for a job well done. And after reading a few of the post of unsatisfied parties, well I just felt that they needed a Pat on the Back for their work. I am glad to see that others feel this way also.
It is good to get a warm fussy at times, from fellow forum members.
Keep up the good work it is very much appreciated.

i never doubted that...

my first react was just due to the fear it creates a circumstance that will repeat the former thread... and by repeat it i don't mean someone criticizing the game or larian support but criticizing in a way where agressive replies (and i didn't say insulting but agressive) are unavoidable (except for lynn... but what lady_rain said, already?)
as the all world seem brutally leagued against me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> it seems i was wrong!

no more seriously: i was factually wrong (and it seems it happens often) because until now (and there is no reason it doesn't continue so) nobody has been flamed here and my fears seem to have been just very pessimistic... ok anyway i'm sorry if what i've written may be interprated as a "don't criticize larian" thing because it was not the goal...
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" /> zzz sleep well reading this... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepey.gif" alt="" />

hey master guroth,

looks like u didn't understand what i posted. sorry to get u confused.

'stab at the back' sounds very similar to 'pat on the back'. which is why i used that term jokingly. & the dagger is an expression of 'stab at the back'. hope u're not offended in any way.

was just trying to be funny. without success. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
