Ok, let me try and give a different perspective on where the problem may be...

Windows XP with SP2 has no problems with starforce. None that i found not with BD, nor with Doom3 (they both use the same).

What i do know causes loads of hassles with BOTH of these games, are products like Gator, Anvenue A, Double click, XDialer, Companion, and loads more(the list is a couple of pages long). These are all programs that sits on your computer without you knowing it.... the reason why they cause errors with the game, is they alter the DLL files that both the games and the protection relies on. THey ALSO change the dll files that explorer relies on.... hence the crashes. The fact they you say explorer only crashed while having the game installed, may be that the already altered dll files, along with the extra dll files of the protection, was just overloading explorer.

I can suggest 2 simple things to get rid of the problem.

FIrstly download Spybot - this program searches and removes any programs that is harmful to your computer, and that installs themselves without you knowing about it.

Download the program, follow the wizzard, update it, immunize your computer, and then go and check for problems and let the program fix them. I can assure you that the program is stable, causes no problems, and if you suspect it of having caused a problem, you can undo the fixes.

After that is done, go to Housecall and scan your computer. Its a very thorough scan and finds critters in your computer that Symantec, mcaffee and most others never could have seen.

When all that is cleaned up, try installing the game again. You shouldnt have ANY problems with it this time round.
