Ok, now that i have read the book... (yes i DID read it at bedtime as promised)
I can agree with a lot of facts,
- the game is not thoroughly documented (i suppose a possible reason can be that the game was released in too many languages, and translation becomes a pain at the very least, but i still dont see this as an impossible task).
- Yes i would LOVE to know when the next patch will be released and what it fixes (unfortunately most of the problems that the patches currently addresses are copy-protection related - and while on the copy protection subject, yes i do think that starforce created 209384327592340329824 unnecessary hassles even doom 3 forums are MADLY complaining about it. To get back to the patching, i can understand that it takes longer to patch problems that you didnt create in the first place, Larian's main focus and abilities lies in creating games, brilliant ones too..... its a whole new ballgame to debug copyprotection and i presume (correct me if i am wrong) that a lot of the "fixes" for the copyprotection doesnt get coded by Larian, they are going blue in the face screaming at starforce(who doesnt give 3 thoughts about it since they already have their money)and then there is still the hassles of incorporating the patch into the game with starforce's limitations for size etc....
THere was a lot of features i loved about BD, but a lot of ones that i feel they should have kept the concept of DD, so mainly i agree there. I never had a problem with sight though... all my armour normally came with luck and sight etc bonuses.
I dont think many of us liked the battlefield idea too much... i would also rather have nomadic merchants and i like your idea of monster caves responsible for respawning them to the surface.
(as for the lionheart mention here..... EEEEEEEUUUUUUWWWWWWWW once you were part of a guild, there were 3 missions left....
1. if mouse cursor becomes red over object: KILL
2. if mouse cursor becomes yellow over object: Pick up
3. if mouse cursor becomes blue over object: magical - so pick up
once those quests were gone, game finished - i found Diablo the same, you dont even have to read the quests, just do the MAIN 3 quests and the rest will be done at some stage or another)
One thing that i dont like about BD, is there were too many act changes.... I would rather have a HUGE map and maps linking to those, than have act changes where i cant go back again.... I like my old faithful and loyal merchants... i dont mind the once (or even twice act changes), but then it should be at VERY important and realm altering events, not just because you escaped the prison....
Well there's my 2c worth of opinion.... let me head back to my mountain of work.
