Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Can't play---Get rainbow images

The images in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> are rainbows; by which I mean, the images are mainly many colours and the background is black. My warrior is all striped colors. Sometimes the images are partly ok but they still have pretty but odd colours
in them. When I load, the load screen is fine. When the screen is loaded,
the colours are there.
I've reset the video with 5 different settings and it doesn't help. I reconfigured the video settings from software rendering to directdraw but that doesn't do anything.
Now, the play disk is warmer than usual; could that be part of the problem.?
I just got the holy water and grail, is there a bug?
Help, please.
I also put AbandonLoader on my machine and loaded my copy of Freddy Pharkus from
Sierra.
My other games are ok. Can anyone suggest what to do or have I come up with something new which I rather doubt.

I don't know how to back up the save files.
Ican re-install but my female warrior is a strange mix; both warror and mage.
I do have The Sword of Chaos but I had that long before the problem with th e
colors.

Have you looked at this thread? Maybe it will help... at least until Raze comes along with another possible solution!

Is your Directx updated? Are your drivers for your videocard up to date?
If you want to backup you saves, just copy the map savegames, or whatever it is called, to some other place, but normally if you uninstall and reinstall, you have the option to keep your savegames.

i forgot how she resolved that problem but she did eventually. so don't lose hope yet, lady terry.

I left my computer on for 45 minutes and it Worked. I can play DD again.
