After a long wait, I am very disappointed that there is still no patch beyond 1.45 for beyond divinity. You can be assured that I will not be buying another Larian game for at least a few years and until I see that they look after their customers a lot better.

In my opinion there's no need for another patch.

Well, there are still a few Glitches left (look into my thread), and I'd rather see some "finest polish", so to say, that makes my game more ... "complete", if you understand what I mean.

But I don't have the feeling as if there are any serious bugs left, except maybe "Hero's Quest".

until coming here i didn't know patches were some hard drug for some gamers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

more seriously: djp, if you have a serious trouble with the game asking for a patch is not the best way to solve it i think...

ok for minor bugs and "polished" aspect i won't be sad if it was improved... but it may be understandable it is not of the highest priority for larian even if it is not impossible that a new patch should come (i'm not able to read in the stars so...)

True patches to fix Bugs and Features are a good thing, but why let some minor irritation ruin the wonderful game experience you had or are having?

By you even playing Beyond Divinity I’ll assume you are clever in the fact that you can work around almost any game issue thrown at you. Look to what was awesome about the game you’re playing.

Business looks at the bottom line, what good it criticism without a solution.
Not a suggestion, but a solution.

So in this case your best bet is to print screen and e-mail Larian Tech dept including your print screen and a detailed description of your problem.
Otherwise all you’re doing is venting which is not solving anything.

Take Care djp and I hope you find the joy you seek. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Djp, I agree with you that a new patch would be good, why?

1. I'm a quest gamer - and if I can't finish off quests/clear my log due to quest bugs/miss quest XP as I prefer proceeding in a game like this instead of butchering my way through the BF => I'd like this solved. I know this does not prevent me from playing if I like a plot/environment/char build - but it nags a bit at me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

2. if I see here that gamers can't proceed in the game because important NPC hop around into inaccessible areas, thus forcing me to reload or work with hex-edit => it annoys me (in one case I had to redo a lot). And yes, this happened twice to me as well - in about 10x I played through the the game. (so, I seem to like it in spite of the bugs)

3. I CAN live with the bugs (e.g. lockpick, arrows, cut scenes, crashes, BF bugs, object bugs, skill book probs) - and I hope no one will say, all are minor - because this is not true IMO. And a lot of bugs HAVE been squashed from 1.00 version on - but not all. Divinity had the last patch about a year (?)after release, BD is since May/June on the market, so I am patient enough, as I wish for a final patch.

But... I would NOT follow your conclusion for this:

why not?

Well, the first series of patches came out very quickly, so in my belief, the Larians looked after their customers. Therefore I am pretty sure, they will continue to look after them (me). The 1.4er series even added new features for the BF traders, changed the inventory system, which was definitely NO bug patching but listening to their customers (not me in all cases <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> - sniff).

still there is a difference between thinking a patch would be a good thing and asking for a patch...
still there is a difference between asking for a patch and asking for a patch under black listing sentence...

True, MasterGuroth - I concentrated my answer on the core as I understood it ( fact lvl) not on the formulation (emotional lvl) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - and I still say, a further patch would improve the game(r) fun and decrease gamer frustration.

I totally agree with kiya... yes there are problems, but since i have faith in a good company, i know the patch will come when its good and ready. The final one, the one not needing 5 patches afterwards, because in the rush someone forgot the final ";" at the end of a line.

Let them take their time.... its sure to be worth the wait...

Ode to the endless cycle of the System / Hardware Technicians pointing at the Programmers, the Programmers pointing at the System / Hardware Technicians, and the Business Executives pointing at both the System / Hardware Technicians and Programmers to speed things up.

So is the life of software development. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

A final patch would be ever so welcome, but thank you Larian for what you’ve given us so far. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Is there any reason to believe that there ever will be another patch?

I have seen no official word from Larian. Was there something?

With quite a few other games it's been common for the supply of patches to dry up because the publisher/ distributor or whoever it is who puts up the money to back the developer simply thinks it's not worth their while to pay for more work on the project.

In other words they think that the cost of more improvements won't be repaid by more sales.

Quite possibly, the 'next patch' for many games lies partly done and abandoned on the 'back burner' simply because the money is never supplied to finish it.

Is the structure or situation different at Larian? I have not read enough about them, their patch promises, or their cash supply deals with publishers to know how it works for them. Anybody have any real knowledge of what their position is?

We are currently working on fixing alot of problems with the story and we will be releasing another patch (v 1.46) for all the different versions once this is done. We will release a beta version of patch 1.46 soon, however we can’t give an exact date. More information will follow when available.

On the other hand, we could make a new thread - a simple collection of what we want to have fixed. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> So that Larian knows what's still ... "wrong" with the game. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

No, we can't give a list with which bugs will be fixed. That's for later, when the patch is ready. And there's no need for a list either, we know what to do <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
