Here’s a funny thing that I did while in the Docks Dist. I always play solo with no henchmen.
You know that one Bloated Dire Spider behind Callik’s house. Well, I got it to chase me, and I lead it all the way to Gate Captain Soren and his men. I ran into the crated area where they were and the spider followed. I then ran out while the spider stayed there and attacked Soren and his men. I in turn, outside of the crates, pummeled the spider with a barrage of Magic Missles.
That spider killed Soren and all of his men , but I took it down with my last Magic Missle.

Actually with a fair amount of DEX, mage armour, shield, cat's grace and ghostly visage you will have an AC very close to a fighter if not better. (Not a buffed cleric though, they're insane!) You also have concealment and damage reduction.
I used to make the mistake of going for 'pure caster' earlier but the game AI just doesn't allow that. All the best damage spells come at or after level 6.
Best just to compensate for it. With 'flame weapon' cast you will do more damage than a fighter anyway. It can be the only damage spell you need for a long time. (Except for the bloody mind devourer which is immune to fire! )

Oh, I have most of those spells already, but that one level of Paladin has me at a small disadvantage for a bit. As you know I only grabbed that single level for the immunities. I just have to get a few more levels and I'll be pretty powerful. Kyra_Ny

Oh, I'm saving that for last in the Peninsula Dist. I'm only clearing as far as to Kurdan Fenkt. Then I'm going to the other Dist's. I'm hoping on getting the Lesser Isaacs by then. And I'll use my Empowered Magic Missles too. I should be okay with my Summons and Familiar. Kyra_Ny

Heh, Kurdan Fenkt. He blows his save on 'Hold person' every time!
I forgot about your pally level! Use full plate when you run out of spells! (if you can be bothered) I found it handy in sticky situations.

Cool, sounds like I'm preaching to the converted here. Pally/Sorcs are ubermunchkins! I loved mine!
What sort of BAB are you looking for? 4 attacks per round? I found I couldn't live without my spells (impatient) so I settled for 3. Also you'd have to wait longer to get the all-important auto-still 1,2,3...

I was thinking about only getting enough Sorcerer to get the 20+ level Mage Armor and then I was going to go Monk the rest of the way. Say to 9th or 11th level to get that 30% / 40% monk speed increase. That combined with Haste and I'll be a spell casting fiend each round!!! Kyra_Ny

That's a good idea. Get some cool spell resistance too! Free knockdown, etc.
Don't you want to take a Monk level before 20 to get more attacks per round? BAB for 5 attacks is 13 I think...

I tried a monk in the HoU exp. When I first moved around I had to make F1-sounds (wrooooom )because she was so fast! That monk has been a apin in the [nocando] since I'm temted to go for it (ok, I tought a little about going WM and rouge too, and with a dex in the region of 30, being able to have a couple of nice feats. Any thoughts on this?)...

Womble What do you suggest? I'm not good at figuring the BAB's. I don't want to mess up my spells neither. I want to be primarily a spell caster. Right now I'm 1-Paladin / 5-Sorcerer. Kyra_Ny

Übereil That's a great combo Ube!!! I had a whole lot of fun with my Fighter/Weapon Master/Rogue. Although I made mine a Strength based character, but Dex base is super good too! Kyra: Sorc 12/Monk 4/Pally 4 will get +13 BAB and 5 attacks per round (unarmed)if you wish. This is definately a late developer. He'll survive well early on though but won't quite unleash torrents of death untill the late 20's (level-wise)
If you don't care too much about 5 attacks the good old Sorc 18/Monk 1/ Pal 1 will give you 4 unarmed attacks per round. NOTE: I have NO idea if taking Monk at lvl 40 allows you to follow the unarmed attacks progression.
BUT Unless you're making a character FOR lvl 40 (maxed out tumble) why wait? If you play through all you chars to see how they perform against a wide variety of enemies (like me) then take a monk level to bring tumble up to a multiple of 5. (tumble at 5,10,15 etc gives +1 to AC for every 5 points)
But I'm sure you know this anyway Kyra.

Womble Yes, on the Tumble every 5. My question is will it hinder how fast I grab my High Level Spells? I'm going to Spell Focus in Illusion and grab Weird. I tried the Necromancy route with Wail of the Banshee and it wasn't all that great against High Level Characters. I want to mainly rely on my spells and not melee. I’ll let my summons and Familiar do the melee. I want to grab my High Level Spells ASAP so what route should I take in character level progression? But I might be missing something so I’m still asking for your input. Kyra_Ny

@meaculpa: what's a good PW for party-based characters in NWN? i prefer party games; i don't do PvP at all hmm thought I mentioned this earlier Try Alboria "The Bottled World" they specialise in party based PW even to the point you get party XP when in a party, as in Crusader killed Ogre, Crusader gains 50XP, party gains 10XP. You can find it under PW action Alboria or you can type in direct connect "www.alboria.dynu.com" Okay

Sounds like the caster route is the one you want. Taking the Monk level will hinder you at some point as far as spells go but only by one level. You took Pally as your first level right? You can improve your Tumble in 5's at level 2, 6, 11, 16 and 21. (and so on) Just add to spellcraft and then save points each time as the sorc. (I presume INT=10, if more then grab Discipline with the monk levels too, i.e. INT=12) Lore is good but depents on your INT. Spellcraft will increase spell resistance by +1 every 5 points. Healing: I have seen little difference in 0 points in this and 20. Maybe it helps when using heal kits in combat. I dump in 2 points and when I use a kit in combat I only heal about 10 points. Out of combat its between 20-30.
The thing with wierd is it requires 2 saves. Will and Fort. Wail of the Banshee requires just one, fortitude. The Will save can be reduced with Mind Fog but that uses a will save too! Now things get silly...
The good thing about wierd is that it will cause damage even when the fort save is failed. (small amount but it helps)
The important things are the Spell focus and penetration feats. Plus their epic equivalents. Maybe take some more sorc levels after 20 to get the epic bonus feats too. Still spell is optional since your monk levels will give you good robes. Take some more monk levels when you feel like adding more to tumble+discipline. You should be fine with one pally level.
Hope that helps m'dear.

I am now Fighter6/Barbarian 1 and Barbarian from here on in, unless you wise old owls could direct me further??

Do one of those notes say: "A wall at arms length" If so you need to put the equivalent Ceremonial item in the chest you got the note from. That will unlock the door. Übereil monks = uber leet! if you're planning to take your char into HoTU, you can build a monk (x)/fighter (4). fighter for weapon spec in kamas, then dual wield them. the number of attacks you get per round is ridiculous, and you attack so fast. don't worry about the low base damage of the kamas as compared to your fists, since you can upgrade them at the forge. i've been thinking of a monk/cleric build, too, next time i run through HoTU. you'll be a lean, mean fighting machine with the ability to buff yourself and cast limited spells. any ideas anyone?
