I think the Greater Belt of Guiding light prevents Death Magic.
There are other items too, but that's the only one I remember.

It's that blasted spell that creates that red cloud that does the number on you.

I always buff up my henchie, run into the room, let the henchman grab whoever, and I focus on that blasted spell caster. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

Well thank you both you young ladies <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />....I have managed to complete the OC and what exhilerating fun it was too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
Took me a while to figure out that i had to kill one of Morags guards to actualy have a go at her!!
What a bloomin' racket it all made ( i had my new headphones on), and it made me sweat a lot!
The end sequence was short and sweet, and after convincing Aribeth to surrender i was disapointed not to see her again,or did i?...who was the young Lady down near the end battle. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />
Any way gotta go now..i'm orf Ten Pin bowling for a few hours <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/XmasJump.gif" alt="" />

Now you need to start a whole new character and play SoU.
I don't know why most people like HoTU over SoU.
I think SoU is so much better.
Mainly; because, the balance is better in SoU.
SoU will keep you sweating almost all through the game.
Whereas in HoTU you can become a bit over powered and just breeze through it.

Don't get me wrong...I love HoTU.
The interactions in HoTU is what make it soooooo good. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
I just like SoU more. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh, and that girls name is Asheera.
She is from Sahaladar on Azallah.
She looks like Aribeth, but she didn't fall to the deciet in dream like Aribeth did.

SoU has a nice little sidequest for palladins.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Pally 4/Cleric x

Pally 2/sorc x (cheesy, but love it)

Pally x/fighter 4 for weapon spec if you just want to hit things. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

Paladin/Weaponmaster
Paladin26/Sorc(or Bard)1/RDD13
Paladin/Champion of Torm
But personally I love the 2nd option only because you get soooo many bonusses with RDD <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

I do tend to like smashing things to pieces rather than go down the Magic road.
Pally x/fighter 4 sounds good to me, how high in palladin before getting the Fighter up to level 4??
Mea...what benifit do tyou get for a level 1 sorcerer or bard in this set up Paladin26/Sorc(or Bard)1/RDD13?....and how do you get that many levels? I only got to level 16 in the OC!

I don't think it matters too much Spick. Both classes have discipline, identical BAB progression etc. Fighter 4 first will get weapon spec which I find helps more early on.

Make sure its weapon spec:longsword too. You won't regret it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

STR is +8 permanent
CON is +2 ""
INT is +2 ""
CHA is +2 ""
AC is +4 "" Natural
HP gained to D10
and most important .....

You ever test this Mea?

You'll reach lvl 27-28 starting the char in SoU and exporting to HotU in my experience.

No ECL bonuses here I'm afraid.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

she is aribeth in a parallel universe, had aribeth taken the "good" road. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

while i agree that it's easy to be overpowering in hotu, i still think sou is a bit lacking. though i like the better focus and story of sou over the oc and the tougher fights, it can never compare to the goodies, the bells and the whistles that hotu brought along.

sou is suppposed to be an expansion. as an expansion, sou should be better than the original. there were no good items (well, maybe a few), the prestige classes are nothing to write home about (assassins & harper scouts are near damn useless), and there were no very good feats to take that would make you replay the expansion. the good items were things i can't afford. gold was just so scarce in that game. iirc, the circle kick monk feat was very bugged it got to the point of annoying. as i like playing monks, stopping his attack once he launched a circle kick was just plain irritating. the shadow area (forgot the complete name of that place in the last chapter) was just so damn slow it's like the matrix.

of course kyra, these are just my own personal gripes on the game and not directed at you at all. cheers! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hy everyone. Just installed NVN to give it a second try (first time I quit at lvl 8 of origional camp or so). All te time I was thinking I should try it again.
Please advise.

I started an elven wizard again. He is generalist, and he is power wiz or pure wiz. His stats at lvl 6 are
Str Dex Con Int Wis Cha
8 13 14 18 10 8 - I added more dex to be able to hit more with my x-bow and to be able to take power shot feat.

Are these stats ok? When I get stat increase, where should I put them? More int? is 19 or 20 int better than 18?

Btw. I play original campaign.

As for companions, the only one I use atm is wulf summmon. I don't use familiar for exp. I use familiar only to bash chests (damn I hate to leave all those locked chests). I don't use any hench at all, maybe I will take later to get their quests.

Do you guys hae any recomendations?
What character did you like to play most of all?
I'd like to play some dualist warrior, paladin, and disciplined assassin. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
