I am such Yesterday went into ancient caves (those under troll caves). There is a stone golem guarding an exit to next level. I gave him a ring and he dissapeared. I went to the next level. Same again. I killed the golem. OMG 550 exp points!!!!! where minotaur gives only 15 or so. I should have killed the first one also (don't have an earlier save).
I think you only get to kill the last golem. You have to use the other (non-violent) methods to get past the others.
