d&d or not, the drow still enrich a fantasy world's setting.
on another note, there are other sub-races i've seen in iwd2 that might be interesting to play in dragon age or other games: shield dwarf, gold dwarf, duergar, rock gnome, deep gnome (sviferniblin something). they provide a lot of interesting options in character creation given their different racial traits.
i once built a party of characters with ecl races in iwd2. they were a lot of fun and powerful at that. pity i ran out of patience with the game.
