This is all Bioware is saying about playable races at this time. What races the
game will contain to do battle with I'm not sure if they have revealed any of
that:

Elves, dwarves and humans will be included as playable races. There are other
playable races as well, which will be revealed at a later date.

hmmm...maybe bioware will adopt the diablo ii-style of combat (shivers). hehe.

Who knows they might. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Reading all of this makes it sound like Bioware is making plans for some big
changes with Dragon Age. It's as if they are going for all new stuff that they
can claim as their own and maybe sell rights to it in the future for other
companies to use.

Wonder how effective all the new will be? Will the gamers go for all new stuff
(ruleset, universe, etc) or will they miss the D&D that has been tied to RPG's
for a long time? It is something to think about. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I bet the ruleset might be SIMILAR to D&D, since it is what BW knows.

Could be. The thing I wonder is though just how much. Bioware seems to be
wanting to create something all of their own. Something new that other game
developers will turn to them for. If this is the case just how far are they
willing to go to be different. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Here is what Bioware posted about the Dragon Age story. Thoughts anybody?

Quote
1.03: What is the storyline of Dragon Age?

For the first time, you choose how your character’s story begins and that choice changes how your story unfolds. From a grim barbarian wanderer who is the last of his kind, to an exiled dwarven prince betrayed by his brother; each of the many 'origin' stories spins its own heroic tale of intrigue and romance.

Each origin story completely changes the setting and events of the game's first chapter and unlocks different storylines, villains, romances and items throughout the course of the game.

As you play, your actions shape the destiny of the world. Unite a powerful kingdom under your wise and just rule, enslave nations beneath the tyranny of your powerful necromancy or forge a legend of your own making.

Hero or villain, the choice is yours. Dragon Age features an awesome storyline and epic exploration in the BioWare RPG tradition.

The updated Dragon Age homepage.

But really, it's the same site with a different outlook. But things are going forward at least <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.
