Imo G1 is better than G2... I'don know why... I just think so <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

G1 is, for me too, better than G2. But in addition with the Addon, both Games are equal.

Things like the Gig of InExtremo (The Band in the second Chapter), are just great.
And the atmosphere, in the different Camps (later in the Game the travelling will be simpler), are very close, and easy to belive.
Just walk through the Camps, or the World, can bring fun.

I've just been given a teleport rune to the Sect Camp, so this will make travelling much easier - I've ramped up my skills some - I'm a Fire Mage (but still haven't used any spells ...)

I'm using my bow to take out everything - just killed all the swampsharks - I'm now off to report to Raven and then on to the New Camp.

Well, I tried playing Gothic finally.
I played it for 8 hours straight and I achieved 4th level in that time.
Sadly, I had to totally uninstall the game and put it away forever.

I was absolutely unable to play it,
due to all of its keyboard commands.
I avoided the harder monsters; because I figured out
which ones would kill me in one or two hits.
I mainly ran away all of the time.
But even with cheat keys enabled it wasn’t any fun,
knowing I was getting hit a million times buy the easier monsters.
I couldn’t use hit and run tactics neither;
because again, I was unable to play properly
due to all of the keyboard commands.
Some have said that one gets used to the keyboard commands
after a bit of using them.

In G1 you need, most of Time, only the Arrowkeys, and the Ctrl Key.
In the beginning it is normal to run away. You have to search so many easy Monsters like Scavengers, and Molerats as possible.
But maybe it is that those generally Tips, do not help you.

In this Way i can offer you my Help via PM
Last month i will help an other (german) Forummember in this Way to solve G2.
I can give you some hints, where you get EXP, and if you need some spoilers.

The most imported thing to know is, that the most Areas where are the bigger Monsters, are Areas which will be later in the Game neccesary.
In Gothic you can get better Armours only if you coming in a higher Act. Normaly there are two Armourlevels in one Act (not in the lasts Acts, but in the first fours Acts)
And if you dont have the right Armour for this "Act Area", you have no Chance to beat these Monsters. Maybe one with a good scrool, and an other with a good strategy, but not really.
So, you cant enter all Areas at the beginning.
Then, an other importend thing is, you can solve all Quests to be a Member in the different Camps. Doing this, will bring you many more EXP, if you only solve the Membershipquest in one Camp.
And there are some hidden Quests.

Ask me at PM, and i will help you. Im sure we will bring you through the Game without cheating.

Never played Gothic 1... I've begun Gothic II... I must say it seems a very good game... also very hard. Well, as a matter of fact i don't like the fight system at all, or more exactly i don't like it when it comes to 1 vs more than 2 or X versus X... (and yes i think that NWN system is more easier on that point)...

I like the skill/ learnship system though... and many quests, so far

In G1 is it possibel to fight against the Monsters one by one.
The only Enemys with this will not work, are the Humans.
The rest can be misled, if you going slowly to an group of Enemys. Then they will notify you solitary and also attack you solitary.
But after one Enemy have notify you, you have to go a little bit backwards. Or, in the Fight, it can be happen that you came to close to the rest of the Enemygroup and they will attack you all.
<span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'> The only Situation where you have to fight against more than one Human, is if you dont pay the Money to Bloodwin. After doing so, one of the old Camp (i think his Name is Grim) will prepare a Trapp for you. But if you are at Level 7, or 8, you can win this Fight. </span>

What really disappointed me was when I was doing the sleeper camp stuff.
It is really sad that I am forced to fight Marlok/Harlok
or whatever his name is.
Here you are level four and they throw this seemingly
level 8 maybe level 10 guy at you in order to even join this camp.
That’s just plain unfair.
I realize that you can come back and do it later,
but I wanted to get some Magic started. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
You know, magic like a Fighter / Cleric in other games.

Tsel's pouting; because he thought Gothic was pretty cool,
but those keyboard commands are killing him.

NOTE: I have a left hand handicap.
That's why this game is so, so, so, so hard for me to play.
And the game is no fun playing in cheat mode.

DO NOT!!! talk to Mud.
I took great, great pleasure in finishing him off near the woods

Tsel, one thing to know.
You can solve all Quest for the different Memberships in the Camps.
So, if i go to the Swamp Camp, i was Level 7 or 8.
The rest of hints i can give you are to great spoilers, and i will not write them here.
If you are interested for a step by step Walkthrough, please write a PM to me.

Sorry to hear about your Handycap, but i can say if you play a fighter, you do not need push (in Fightsituation) other Keys as the Ctrl Key.
The rest can be handle by the Right Hand and the Arrow Keys.
You do not need to play with the Mouse, it is allways easyer to Play only with the Keybord.

No, you cannot be a Member of all the Camps, but you can solve all the Quests you need for that.
After solving all Quests, you have to make the decision wich Camp you will enter.
But this will be a got point to make a Savegame, and start the other Camps from this Point.

One neat little trick I figured out when I was playing
was when you are being guided to a camp,
hold up the guide by luring monsters to them.
Easy experience.

Oh, I’m not missing my hand or anything.
My tendons cause my 3 last fingers to move together when I bend them.
Otherwise no one would know by looking.

I have enough ore to buy a skill now.
The Teeth or Claw removal for 50 ore.
Which one pays more ore to have?

I think it is better to learn to get the Teeth. I`m not sure what is giving more Ore, the Teeth or the Claws.
But in the beginning, you can only kill Wolfes, the other Animals, wich can give Claws, are to strong.
And there are more Animals with Teeths than with Claws.

Release of G3 in Germany is January 2006

I started Gotic today (have 300 exp. Mighty!). I'm currenlly cheking things out in the old camp. Any general tips? How to get my exp up early (and I mean early, I have 300!)? And Stone mentioned acts, how does THAT work?
