I am playing the German version with the English player made mod patch.
It is working perfect and great for me.
I must say if you played G2 without NoTR installed you have not played G2.
NoTR makes G2 a very different game.
NoTR changes the whole G2 game and adds lot of dimension to the WHOLE game.

I have heard through rumor control, nothing verified, that France and the UK are going to get NoTR, so you may be able to buy yourself a UK version in the near future.

Any idea when the UK version is due?

No idea, but if they do, you need to consider
if the UK and American versions are compatible
with each other.

Which Level/Act you are, and do you mean the normal Lizard, or the Firelizards.

The Firelizards are very heavy Enemys, so it is the best to wait with them until you need the Tongue of one Firelizard. But if you have a Bow/Crosbow (and enough Arrows) you can climb on the Ship and shoot the Firelizards from there.

Well, once again I'll try to start playing Gothic. Because I need to do SOMETHING all day long. I have a question: Is it possible to play only with your keyboard? I wonder since you don't seem to use your mouse that much (only the two mousebuttons, and if I could use two keys on my keyboard that would be easier I think).

I allso run around with a torch in my left hand which I drop everytime I go into combat. How do I unequipt this torch?

You can play Gothic only with the Keybord, you dont need any changes in the setup for this.
Use the Arrowkeys for movement, and the Cntrl Key for action. Hold the Ctntrl Key if you fight against an enemy, use it in your Inv. for De/activating an Item. You can set shortkeys on your spells too, move the Cursor over the spell you need and push a F Key betwen F4 - F10
The Alt key is for climbing and diving.
I use the mouse only for looking up or down.

Actually i dont know if it is possible to do a burning Torch in your inventory.
Normaly this will not be usefull
If i remember right the torch will be turning off, and is not useable any more.
So, drop the Torch, and get it up again is better, the Torch will still burns longer.

Just curious: Do you get shileds later on, or should I go for two-handed swords?

No, there are no Shields in Gothic, maybe in G 3?
You can leatn the two Handed Weapon Skill if you play a Warrior. These are the strongest Weapons in the Game.
But Skar has a good one Handed Weapon ...

So, what do you advise? Should I go for one-handed or two-handed? Not that I allso would like to do some magic...

Update: I'm lvl 2 (feels weird you start as lvl 0, I feel like a lvl 3 char ), and are currentlly trying to go through the forest to the old mine. I've done some quests in the old camp (and I returned both the neclase and the sword right away ). I've bought all kinds of skinning I can come over, and strenght for the rest of my 20 skill points. This gives a strenght of 25, and I can get teeth, claws, furs and lizard skins (not that I've killed any lizards yet though). I'm a bit pissed with the fact that merchants don't get new equipment (and with that new ore. Soon I have no one to sell meat for ore to ). Still havn't got my first piece of armor. Not sure what camp to join.

You can solve all quest for be a member in the different Camps, and only after that you have to make a Choice.
Better Armours are only avaible if you reach the next chapter of the Game.
These is a method to make sure that you cant reach some areas to early.
In Chapter one you normaly need only getting teeth and furs. Only if you try to reach Level 19 in Chapter one, you can learn the other hunting skills.
And yes you can reach Level 19, i tried it. But the Game after that is a little boring becouse the is no really challenge left.

In the old Camp you can go to Thorus and ask him for a Quest for you, be persistent and he give you a quest.
If you can in the Castle in the old Camp then go to Skip and say that Thorus (or Gomez) send you. One of the booth will work, and you can buy a good one Handed Sword.

In the new Camp go to the free mine, there is a Miner, i think his name is swiney, who will give you a light armour. You can buy a better by Fisk in the old Camp, or by the entry of the Swamp Camp.

A good way to get some ore or goods to interchange is forge Swords.
You can buy the equipment by Hugo the Blacksmith.
You need only a crude steel. Go to the fire, then to the anvil, to the Water and at least to the Whetstone.
Then you have a good Sword for the beginning.
If you make four Swords, you can buy five crude steels. And Hugo has ever enough crude Steel to sell. If you buy more crude stell at a time, and trigger fast the Arrow up key by holding down the Cntrl Key, you can use a little Bug wich will give more Swords. Its inmy eyes equal if you make this, or if you buy often enough crude Steel. The result is the same.
You have many Swords, and every sword is worth 100 ore.

With the Swords you can buy, in the swamp Camp, some rings wich will be helpfull.

Two Handed is better then one Handed, and you can learn the Two Hand Skills only later in the Game.
Its an upgrading for a Warrior, the way to make the Warrior better and better.

In Gothic 2 TNotR you dont need the Two handed Skill. You can find very good one handed weapons. And in G2 TNotR you choose if you find it better to make a strong Charakter or a Charakter with higher dextery.

Ok... So you say that two-handed is better, but you can only get it later in the game? So, if you're going for two-handed, is it worth (or smart, or whatever) to completelly ignore training yourself in one-handed skill? Was still thinking of a little magic, is it possible to have both magick and two-handed?
