One last one – also old. I’ve updated it slightly. It’s not too hard to work out what it is overall, but some of the individual parts can be tricky.

"Everyone says that I am a marvellous piece of work, but few people have counted all the strange mixture of parts that I contain:

I have a large box, with two lids, two caps, two systems of measuring, and a great number of articles that a carpenter uses.

Then I have a couple of good fish, and some small shellfish. Plus two lofty trees, some fine flowers, and the fruit of an English plant. I also have a handsome stag, two playful young animals, and a number of other small wild animals.

I have two halls of worship, some weapons of warfare, and many weathercocks. Plus the steps of a hotel, the House of Commons on the eve of a Dissolution, two students, and some Spanish Grandees.

What am I?"

Hint:
You could probably also add a hobo and two small birds (snigger, snigger…).

Some of the answers are sound puns – such as taking “Bear” to sound like “Bare” or whatever (not an example from the answer). – but most are pretty straightforward.

Answer:

I have a large box (the chest), with two lids (eyelids), two caps (kneecaps), two systems of measuring (feet, and hands – a measure for horses) , and a great number of articles that a carpenter uses (nails).

Then I have a couple of good fish (soles - of the feet) , and some small shellfish (mussels – muscles). Plus two lofty trees (palms – of the hand), some fine flowers (irises – from the eyes, and tulips – two lips….) and the fruit of an English plant (hips). I also have a handsome stag (the hart – heart) , two playful young animals (calves) , and a number of other small wild animals (hares – hairs).

I have two halls of worship (the temples) , some weapons of warfare (arms, and blades – shoulder blades) , and many weathercocks (vanes – veins) . Plus the steps of a hotel (Inn steps - insteps) , the House of Commons on the eve of a Dissolution ( Ayes and Noes – eyes and nose) , two students (pupils – eyes again) , and some Spanish Grandees (Ten Dons – tendons).

And I’m sure you can make your own clues up for bums, tits, balls etc… </span>
