<span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>I wasted a couple of minutes trying to devise elaborate mathematical progressions such as 1 squared + 1 = 2; 2 squared - 1 = 3; 3 squared +1 = 10; 4 squared - 1 = 15 ah crap....! Then wondering about the colours on roulette wheels (were they all red??) before simply reading them out loud and spotting the answer. Nice red herring with missing out 21 - 26 too. Good one! </span>

What are the next two numbers in this sequence?

Any chance of a hint please? It is mathematical, or should I be looking for something like atomic weights, or numbers of husbands wed by the Gabor sisters, a code to crack, or.... ?

If I've got the right idea here, then it seems that there could be quite a few possible answers:

You've got it, but it is only the simple answer because <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>all of the others are single digits. The puzzle only asks for the next two answers because there are only two more answers. If it was to use the multi-digit numbers, then the rest of the puzzle would have them as well.</span>
