I played Beyond Divinity before DD. BD is more linear, and I didn't like it as much as DD. You may want to play Divine Divinity first if you like to play single characters. With Beyond D. you're teamed up with a death knight; although, toward the end of the game he kinda-sorta grows on you and hate to see him leave.

I bought BD and the DD discs were enclosed as a package deal. Two games for price of one was pretty good indeed.

Mainly an on-line EverQuest player, these games were a good vacation break.
