I played the game a bit, do to DATD helping me out. Just for about 5 minutes, but I got 2 weapons and 200 xp! w00t! It was pretty fun, I must admit. I will probably get it once it comes out too.

I know I will. I've got a juecy computer and a juecy connection (with cable. With my best friend's father's help I'm planning to convince my father to draw a wire through the telenetwork. My friend's father is an expert...).

I am playing right now, level 16 Warrior/Monk with full platemail armor. They significantly raised the price for that armor, was 40gold per piece and now it's 150 gold. I still had more trouble finding the steel than the cash though.
Name's Rythok Ballantine if you wanna chat or do missions.

Rythok helped me out a bunch, then I met up with some nice guys, and we finally ( on 4th or 5th try) beat the next level.
Its 11;30, and I AM GETTING SOME [nocando] SLEEP!
Good game though.

Oh and characters can now dance! dance, beckon, moan, shake fist angrily, cheer, jump, sit, laugh... It's not just quests they added: in this interview you can see that those quests change the world arround you! Interesting enough, it seems that all we seen of GW so far is about 30% of the final product. I wonder though if it's entirely what you get when you buy it or will it be broken into chapters? Anyhow, I preordered GW .

Well one thing's sure, the game has quite a lot of content already. I spent the whole weekend doing missions and I haven't done them all (I stopped playing only to sleep, yes I ate while playing the game.) Of course it did take me around 5 hours doing the same mission over and over to get the materials for my platemail. And after the missions you can go out into the explorable areas and do those world changing quests.
Then there is the PvP and GvG (guild vs guild). I never got into a guild that did GvG, but me and my bro once got into a guild group (Dynasty Warriors) in PvP and we held the Hall of Heroes for 30 minutes (Hall of Heroes is where you end up when no other team has as many vitories as yours)
Doing the first missions again with a powerful character can be quite fun too. Last night I helped Lews do the first mission, and if it werent for those darn healers I probably could've killed the whole charr army on my own
Guild Wars is just getting more fun with each Beta Weekend!

Guild Wars is just getting more fun with each Beta Weekend! Love the randomness generator and the auto-NPC ballance: I was lucky because the very first time I went to the north wall, I got a Moa Bird! I am a Necromancer/Ranger (and will probably make a secondary character of Ranger/Mesmerizer) so imagine how I could raise an army of undead minions while my bird keeps the enemy occupied . Yes, even the first areas can be fun: they are no smaller than Baldur's Gate maps so you can always explore. All is fun but what impressed me the most this weekend are the quests. It's no morrowind's Fed Ex. You are asked to defend a wall, then you run from the hordes of Chars. Then you escort a prince while saving POWs... The part where my party and I repaired the trebuchet and bombarded the Charrs is unforgettable. I think the only games with such quest variety might be Fallout/Arcanum (because there were MANY of quests), Baldur's Gate II (to a certain extent) and Divine Divinity. GW is the only MMO game I intend to play: it has all the good elements of cooperative play (a player sold me a 11-18 bow for but 25gd) yet nothing bad. The players can be annoying at first but you only have to get to Lion's Arch and all the clueless pre-teens stay behind. Now: time to change my sig .

I got to level 7 eventually, and I got past the level where you escort the prince and eventually hold the obolisks, sheesh, that was tough.

Just a question (or two):
Will Americans play on a different server? And Asians and europeans etc. And will you earn onplaying these betaweekends (of chorse, you'll get experience, but apart from that)? Will you be able to keep your lvl 20 char? With his platemail? Shall I bve jelous because I'm not american (is another way to put it)?

Übereil I understand half of your post but I'll attempt to answer. There is only one server. All character stats are wiped after the beta weeks. Eventually, there will never be wipes after the game is released.

It's not a level-fest, Ubi. In fact, I suppose you can challege a level 20 player being at level 2. It's about skill, succesful chains of skills and strategy. You may get to level 20 pretty quickly, however it will take weeks to learn good combinations of skills. Look here. That's the launch skills only for the Necromancer. Since every player is dual-classing, think about half more of skills in addition. How many combinations does that make? Like in Diablo, weapons are very random: I had a 4-6 Longbow and a 11-18 Shortbow. You have to trade and hunt for weapons. If you want to buy something cool, you can't just pay a bit of gold: you also need the materials for it since all items are crafted, not sold. You need to visit a crafter with gold and material in order to get a new item. To get material, you have to adventure arround... Level isn't everything in GW.
